bonding issues

If I use a qd that has silicone to remove any polish, will I have bonding issues when I apply my sealant or wax?

First things first, which detailing spray are you talking about and what sealant do you want to put on it, and more importantly why are you detailing around your QD? The QD should enhance your detailing not the other way around IMO.

Potentially, you could have bonding issues. Use a paint cleaner prior to your sealant to prep the paint. Doing so will allow the sealant to properly bond instead of possibly fighting silicones, regardless of how thin the silicone layer may be.

If you feel the need to use a spray to remove polish, use one that leaves nothing behind on the paint. Poorboy's S&W is one such product.

I agree. :xyxthumbs The process should always be to clean the paint with no residues of any sort. Zaino, SG... etc- all sealants require a cleaning step, NXT might have a mild cleaner in it... AIO is a great cleaner with a mild sealant included. Zaino takes a system approach, with components (soon to include a paint cleaner) to accomplish tasks in steps. The Zaino system is cumulatively superb. There are many examples of a "step" approach with different products such as Wolfgang, Klasse,Menzerna, All a cut above any OTC product, IMHO. Once a base coat is applied, then the worry about a QD is minimum, if the sealant and the QD are compatible. There are many flavors in detailing, so please specify the product and the brand QD so that specific answers can be offered.:xyxthumbs

I will be using eagle one's wipe & shine. I don't know which sealant I'm going with yet. As I said in my first post, I'm using the qd to remove any left over polish that I might have. I'm not using the qd for the whole vehicle.
