I'm using 2000 to sand cars with and I've got m105, please recommend me a pad that finishes down well with the m105 w/o leaving too much marring/swirls behind. I know I'am wetsanding and 2-3 steps will be required for darker colored cars, give me a good pad.. please! Thanks
 
Lake Country Orange Foam Pad. If you're final sanding with 2000, you'll need a cutting pad. That means swirls are inevitable. Make sure to clean your pad constantly.
 
I've been using Tuf Bufs since the early 90's. They work great and I love them, but you'll need atleast 1 follow up refining step afterwards. Not a 1-step pad in any way.
 
as David mentioned you need to follow up M105 regardless of what pad you use and paint color to do a proper job. M105 will swirl or even haze the paint so following up with a less aggressive polish like M205 will be necessary.

Cool, what size do you think is good for the makita?



And also, the tuf buf should work well with the m105, correct?

Yup. I like the 5 and 6 inch pads with the long nap, but try the larger ones if you are use to that. Make sure to prime the pad and keep it spurred after each section.
 
Meguiars burgandy foam cutting pads and #105 followed by #205 a the yellow polishing pads should do the trick. You made need 3M Ultrafina with a blue Ultrafina pad on dark paints.

Never could get away with a 2 step on blacks. Working on it though...

I HAD to today...11 hours total on a car that needed a 3 step, but only had time for a two step, with 3 on the horizontals. 105 on hydro blue cyan, then menzerna 203 on hydro tangerine. No way that would have been possible on orange and white, or orange and green!

Got the ultrafina already :)



Will try this tuf-buf though first and see whatsup.



I would like to stick with m105, I like keeping things consistant.

Where could I get this tuf-buf pad?
