Been on the forum for some time with car questions. Considering buying a boat. Can I detail a boat the same as my car. ONR, Pinnacle wash, Duragloss wash, Duragloss aquawax, Duragloss fast clean and shine, upgp, opti-seal etc? Thanks for any insight.

i woldn't see why not but if the boat's gel coat is oxidizing at that point you need to get some boat grade products to polish.

What kind of boat is it? What material? A painted aluminum boat can be treated with car products(I do it). On gel coat it's hard to remove swirls and oxidation with car products, it's much harder than paint.. But the waxes and sealants are pretty much the same..

Thanks for the replies. Will look at suggested forum. 20' four winns, fiberglass. Plan on using upgp and opti-seal on the boat rather than wax. Guess it is no different than a vette? Thanks again...

What year? I use Megs Marine line and Duragloss on mine and have been pleased so far. Some products will work on boats. Just have to experiment what works.

Personally I have had some problems with Megs but it was from a bad batch. (watery product)

Just keep up on it and wipe down as soon as you pull it out the water and remember.....:secret

Oh and boats and vettes are way different. Boats have a gel coat which is very hard.

I detailed a four winns just like yours not to long ago. It was fairly oxidized and we used P21s paint cleaner and it turned out great. Of course we were not trying to get the swirls out. The customers main concern was to remove the rock hard algae.

We treated just like a car and it came out great. However if you are trying to get swirls out you will need some pretty aggressive products.

Over the years, I have had 3 boats, the happiest days of ownership is the day you buy and the day you sell. I wish you the best of luck.
