Hi Folk's
This lovely Z4 Coupe was booked in for Enhancement + Interior Detail to give the car a right good freshen up, on initial inspection a couple weeks ago, I noted some light wash marring, and swirls, so without costing the owner the earth a single stage machine polish was agreed to knock back the swirl's and sharpen up the finish.
now unfortunately I forgot to take any before shot's, however the car fairly clean to begin with anyway.
To begin with all lower parts of the car including the front bumper, wheels and wheel arches were soaked in AS G101 1:20, left to dwell for 5 mins then the full car was pressure washed, washed with two buckets, Sheepskin wash mitt and 3M car soap and rinsed, followed by all door shuts, badges etc being cleaned with various soft detailing brushes and AS G101.
tar spots dissolved with AS Tardis, and wiped away with a clean microfibre.
clayed with Dodo Juice Supernatural clay, fair bit of contamination all over the car, especially the bonnet.
Iron x applied to the whole car, metal filings from the brake discs dissolving here.
wiped away with another clean microfibre and the car given a final rinse.
wheels given a thorough clean with various brushes, various sized soft brushes for the wheel faces and long reach brushes for the backs and AS Smart wheels,
unfortunately the insides of the wheels were suffering from some corrosion, the owner say's this is a common problem with these split rim wheels, but done what I could to tidy them up.
following this, Iron x applied to remove metal filings from the wheels.
aggitated with a soft brush after a few mins then rinsed, Tardis applied afterwards followed by a final rinse.
full car was then dried with a plush drying towel.
some light swirl marks along with a few deeper marks were evident in the paintwork, being an Enhancement the paintwork was machine polished by rotary with a 3M Yellow polishing pad and M205, in traditional BMW style the paint was rock hard, so I swapped to another 3M yellow pad and M105 in areas to achieve an improvement in the finish, paint readings averaged 120um - 137um throughout, except for the bonnet which read as low as 93um in places, so care was taken here.
with the marks being very light they were fiendishly difficult to capture on camera, however this is the drivers door, which has been resprayed at some point in the past, buffer trails were evident distorting any light hitting the finish, and giving a hazy appearance.
Before
After
Passenger side after polishing.
deep chip/ scratch on the wing.
toned down, with fast cut + on green 3M spot pad, followed with 3M yellow and M205
Roof before.
After.
After polishing, the paintwork was treated to a coat of Werkstat Acrylic Prime, followed by two coats of Acrylic Jett trigger, leaving half an hour between coats, this left the paintwork feeling smooth and slick and beautifully reflective.
after this, all plastic trim was dressed with AG bumper gel including door rubber's, windows polished with AG Glass polish, wheels sealed with FK1000p, tyre's dressed with AS Highstyle, applied with a sponge for a nice satin finish, exhaust trims were cleaned up with wire wool, Fast cut + by hand, followed by AG Metal polish, and sealed with FK1000p
and the end result.
The interior was given a thorough vacuum, carpets and mats shampooed with AS Brisk, and treated with CG fabric guard, leather cleaned with Zaino leather soft cleaner and conditioned with Zaino leather in a bottle, plastic already clean were given a wipe down with a clean microfibre and dressed with 303 Aerospace, the pictures.
