BMW X5 (black of course) with System One Polish

The shop got this X5 4.6 in metallic black as a pre-sold unit. I didn't have a lot of time, so I used the System One Polish X3 product and pads. The vehicle had the usual swirls and light scratching and a few that required wet sanding.

This is the 6th car I've used X3 on and I'm getting familiar with working it. It is definitely a time saver for me (est. 30%) as I only have to use 1 product for compounding and polishing. What I really like is to be able to go back to an area I didn't correct enough and hit it with a wool pad, then foam pad ... and I'm done. When I used 3M Extra Cut, it was painful to say the least!

Here's what I started with paint-wise:

On the lift and polished:

Finished off with a coat of Meguiar's #26 and ready for delivery today.

Even the dealer (who I suspect has a 3M tattoo somewhere on his body) is impressed with this product line.

Man, I don't think anyone does black any better than you...Then again, I don't think anyone has as much experience with black as you do either. Nice work!!!

Do you find that the X3 system does a better job on black than the SIP, 106FF combo?

Thanks Sir!.....X3 is as good as the SIP/106ff combo (which does a superb job btw). I've even used X3 and did a 106ff finish job and quite frankly, couldn't tell any difference. The big difference is working with X3 allows me to see my progress and when I'm finished with wool, it's ready for polish. Every now and then, I miss a spot or 2 and it's easy to flip the wool/foam pad back and correct.

Great Job!

That thing looks so good ,I went right to the site and ordered some of the System 1 products. The polish and the wax. I probably won't get to use it untill next year, but I'll have it.:)

Quite impressive. Whoever purchased that vehicle is one lucky customer.

...So, are you selling those M-pars behind the car?

Interesting what you say bout X3, I must admit I have never tried that technique before. I will try it on a friend's E38 7 here in the near future, as soon as the constant Oregon rain passes.

Also, I would love to see pictures of this car taped up.

Nice products. I read in their website and they have 8oz, 32oz & 1Gal. Nice selections and it's convenience to just have 1 polish to do the whole job. Thanks Totoland and great job on the BMW. You are the master.
