BMW Wax(?)

I passed by a local BMW dealer earlier today hoping to discover the secret to BMW cars' nice shine. I went to the parts and accessories department to ask for the wax they use on BMW cars. They showed me an empty can (item was out of stock) of what contained a paste wax. It read BMW Wax on the label.

I know BMW makes good cars... would anybody know who makes their waxes? I doubt if they even formulate or make these waxes... somebody must be doing it for them.

I havent tried the wax, I have used ( and it rocks) their car wash soap. They may rebadge Sonax wax since thats what they do with their soap

Give it a try and let us know

I know mercedes uses repackaged meguiars. For some reason I always thought BMW was the same.

I think that Chrysler was a big influence on what wax was to be used on the Mercedes (we all know why)..

I kind of think that Porsche and BMW would stay with their German roots and buy German waxes for their cars.

Maybe P21s? I remember hearing in the Porsche detailing kit they have rebadged p21s wheel cleaner and total body wash shampoo.

I know the BMW wheel cleaner is just repackaged p21s, but I was led to bleieve their wax was not. Maybe my source was wrong.

As for the Chrysler-MB comment, can you elaborate for me?

Bill.

The BMW shampoo is definitely a re-packaged P21S product. The bottle is an identically shaped larger version of the .5 liter green bodywork shampoo that everyone seems to like. The BMW product is orange but works very much like the P21S. In fact, the 1 liter bottles are only about $8.

As for the wax, I think it is meguiars product in a BMW wrapper. All I saw was a cleaner-wax liquid. I did not see any paste wax at all. You can rest assured that BMW does not make any of their car care products.

I wouldnt be so sure BMW soap is P21S, do a search here. I used to believe it was myself, if you put it next to a P21S bottle and a Sonax bottle its a lot more like the sonax bottle. Im holding all 3 here now, no doubt in my mind its sonax.

I cant recall who led me to this, maybe Ginger? after it being pointed out to me I have to agree its probably Sonax. EIther way its a great deal and incredible soap......
