BMW diamond black metalic swirls

In the same time I am sad and happy.

Three days ago I had a flu so my brother took the car to the car wash, manual car wash.

MOTHER ****ERS! They swirled it up with the sponge:soscared: :soscared:

In sun in some angles looks :bawling:

Today I decided to try some polish I recently bought. SCHOLL-CONCEPTS S17 compound

I have a rotary but no chance I am going to use it on new paintwork cause I have no experience.

I washed the car and rinse it well, dried it with chamois and finished with 3M perfect-it.

Decided to try a small area to test, I applied S17 and gently polished out.

SWIRLS WERE GONE! completely...I couldn't believe I managed to remove them with hand apply.:cool:

Now I am thinking of doing the whole car with it, slow and precise but not sure is it necessary because they'll be back in a short while. My brother says it's a totaly waste of time, car looks sick to everyone just to your eyes it's swirled.

What do you think?

I feel your pain. I'm on my third black car, which means I'm a glutton for

punishment. It's "high-maintenance" from the get-go. I don't know why I

keep doing this to myself, but I *do* love black when it's clean.



My biggest problem has always been washing. The two-bucket method and

good MF towels has helped a lot. I find that multiple coats of 845 and a high-

lubricity car wash prevents a lot of potential swirls.

I'm on my second - first was a midnight blue (almost black) and now it's black. It is a battle but the rewards of good maintenance far outweigh the pain!
 
I hear the new System 1 product is good ,so I bought some. I 'll have to wait until spring in Ohio to use it, but what I have seen so far of the reveiws is awesome!
 
I also use 2 bucket method, but can't buy microfiber towels for drying over here so I am using HQ chamois but very gentle. Some water spots after that I eliminate with 3M green microfiber perfect-it.

When I wash and maintain my car, neighbours and my parents thinks I lost my mind:help:

My Yukon Denali XL is metallic black. Metallic blacks don't show flaws as readily as straight black. Shouldn't be all *that* hard to keep it looking nice if you can keep other people away from it ;)



If you can get the wash regimen sorted out you should be able to keep it marring-free for a long, long time. Easier said than done but certainly not impossible. I'd recommend you study up on wash-related threads/posts here and get a foamgun.



As for your brother's comment, IMO what other people see/think/say isn't relevant; it's all about *you* and what you see/think/feel about the way the paint looks.



I'm just glad you're able to remove the marring with the products/techniques you tried.
 
I cant decide if I want my next DD to be black or not, its such a pain in the *** but looks so good when its kept up. I wish I knew what I know now when I first bought my car.



Theres acid rain all over, someone keyed it, I need a bunch of panels repainted (6 or 7) but I hate body shops, ahhhhhhhh. :mad: I think Id rather just buy a new stang! If I did that, Id get that metallic black color.
 
when washed it just look gorgeous, that's why I love black metalic.

Other side of medal is...every stonechip,mark,birdcrap is visible...:(

I wouldnt bother doing it by hand unless you use something with a lot of fillers. Other option is to find some scrap panels and practice with the rotary until you feel comfortable enough using it on your car. Thats what Id do.

What I am doing is filling new ones in and locking the fillers in.



After washing, I add QD spray and a dollop of Glare Pro Polish or Permagard PD 5000 and work it in with a cheapo orbital and 9 inch terry bonnet

Any new marks get filled in and a hand applied coat of either Pro or PD locks them in until time to repolish (once a year for me)



Just do that anytime you notice them.

Sorry about the car... Regarding removing the swirls by hand completely, I would guess that Scholl has a LOT of fillers...
 
well I am going to find some scrap panel and test myself.

As far as I saw hand try with S17 is quite good, not remove them completely but masks them good.

Maybe I could try with S40, it's a bit fine than S17
