Because you guys know everything.

I am looking for a speaker I can take on vacation that is

About the size of a can of soda

Water resistant or proof ?

Have great sound especially base

Has a long run time.

Can also be wired to iPod if iPhone (Apple Music) is not used to save on streaming data charges

Ability to charge phone would be nice but not a deal breaker

Looking to spend enough to get what I want but no more this thing will take a beating I`m sure. Don`t need fancy names but I do want quality build and sound.

Thanks

Jeff

The one I have seen that is under all of your specs is the JBL Charge 3, I think it`s on Amazon for $130.00. It is a little pricey, but definitely worth it. Well built, sounds amazing, water proof, etc. It definitely looks like it can take a beating and it has excellent reviews as well.

The Bose Soundlink Color is AWESOME! Not waterproof, but it`s survived hundreds and hundreds of hours in detailing, working, outdoorsy, poolside environments. They can usually be found on eBay brand new for $90-100(msrp~$120)

I agree (sort of).

I`ve owned several of these speakers. Some sound good, some don`t. Some have good battery life - some don`t

I looked at the Charge 3 - but it was just too big (more like the size of 2+ soda cans). So, I got the next smaller one - The Flip (about 1.5 soda cans).

It sounds really good - plenty loud enough to fill up a 3 bay garage. It doesn`t distort at higher volumes. Guitar / rock music sounds good through it.

Battery life is nowhere near the claimed 12 hours if played pretty loud - buts it`s closer to 5 (still respectable). BT pairs easily.

I was shooting out the JBL Flip and the similarly priced Bose model that comes in all different colors. I think the Bose claimed like 6-8 hrs of battery life. To me, that is about 1/2 that in real life -too short. The Bose also had older BT technology (can`t recall the name of that tech).

The other thing was, the Bose looked like it would tip over easier. So, I went with the JBL and am very pleased.

I also listened to all these $100-$200 speakers at Best Buy that they stock. The only ones that sounded good to me were the Bose & JBL models. The rest of them sounded thin or distorted at louder volumes.

That`s the one I was contemplating. Found a refurb with a 1 year warranty and other than the CPMR it`s a good deal.

I prefer black or dark color and this is red.

JBL Flip 3 is also a good choice. $80 on Amazon. Flip 3 is small and packs a lot of high quality sound in a little package. Good reviews on both. My wife uses our flip and never recharges it. 10 hrs playtime is easily obtainable on moderate "wife" volumes. Awesome bass for a little speaker.

oh and they offer cool colors too.
