I used my Nikon D60 with the kit lens.
As for tips, I am no pro photographer, that's for sure. The only tip I have is to read the manual and play around with all of the settings. Sorry I can't help you out more.
I'm trying to get TSC17 (Todd) to be my photographer, but don't know if I can afford him...
