Blood Pressure.....

Wow guys, after checking out the town hall by edmunds.com out 580 posts tells me that no one there knows any true facts about window film it's just hearsay and crap. Huper Optic have made some claims that are alittle twisted to make them look better than they are! I see the best film made with only a 5 year warranty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE. they don't publish what the heat rejection is for these films as it's not that great. Ultimate made by C.P Films e.g 50% rejects 38% of the heat @ 42% glare @ is only 5% reflective not 8% as per Huper Optic @ has a manufacturers lifetime warranty Nationwide with 300 dealers in the USA. try finding more than 3 dealers for Huper Optic. so don't get sucked in by twisted claims, there film rejects more heat only in certain nanometer wave lenghts. buyer beware! Sean

:p next time dont hold it in...let your feelings out dood...:D you sound like you know your stuff buddy...im gonna look into that......and yes...all other sites are insane and useless....:p

sorry hope I didn't offend anyone, but the facts should be shown, i've been tinting for a long time @ run a good honest buiss. I have to compete evey day with lying hackers who tint for next to nothing and disapear every 2 years when it's time for warranty. just like when your next door buddy swears that his Nu Finish wax lasts for 2 years!. Thanks Sean

speak your mind buddy...thats how we all learn...you didnt say anybody was stupid or anything...you said your opinion....and....you speak from experience dood...keep it up....as long as you speak from something that you know about...or have tried...then you cant be wrong:)

Hi Sing,

Hi Darbh,

1. If you are sitting in the back of the car and look out the Huper tinted windows, do you notice the green?

Ans. definitely not. Again, my windows were factory tinted grey to start with. Truth is, until I went to check out the website so that I could post the link for you, I never realized the tint was greenish-grey. I always thought of it as grey

2 Does it put a green cast on what you are looking at?

Ans. Nope, guess my grey windows/windscreens and the grey in the film wipes out all the green.

3. Casually looking at the car, do you think others notice the green tint?

Ans. again nope. Nobody who has sat in my car commented that the windscreens looked green so far. The pics of my car are a pretty accurate impression of how people would see my car.

Thanks, glad you liked the car (I do too ;) )

Don't want to mislead you but there's no tint on the lights. It's the way the factory did it.

Hi svtsean,

Could it be that the negative posts that you read is because of confusion between tinted films and solar films? Tinted film are coloured films that does nothing more than add colours to your windscreen. Along the way, these tinted film do cut out some heat, but that's secondary.

Solar film is made specifically to cut out heat, not colour your glass.

I'll be the first to admit that I was a sceptic once. In fact, I was so sceptical that this is what I did.

There are a few brands in Singapore, including Llumar, Huper and V-kool (with V-kool being around the longest and supposedly the best). I got llumar to install the "home" version on my apartment windows (the side that faces the afternoon sun). I chose Llumar because it was the cheapest. That set me back US$60 for 6 panes.

I was very impressed with the results. I tested the film by opening one side of the window and comparing the heat coming in against the side with the window shut. That made me a believer.

For my car, I installed the Huper which is supposed to be a better grade as far as infra red rejection goes (infra red is supposed to be the ones which causes most of the heat).

If you're wondering why I didn't stick with something which worked, that's because the authorities in Singapore require at least 70% visible light transmission through the front windscreens and windows (50% through the rear windows and windscreen). The tint on Llumar's film was stronger and complaince would have meant getting a lower grade than what was available on Huper.

But don't get the wrong idea. These are no miracle films. If you park your car under direct sunlight for hours, your car will be hot. It just slows down the heat build up, not eliminate it.

Below are two links to forums with members mostly in Singapore. If you do a search on words like v-kool and huper optiks, you can find some useful information. In fact, in the Seat forum, I'm currently trying to guage the effectiveness of the solar films by getting fellow Seat drivers to contribute fan speed readings. Will let you guys know once I get enough feedback.

Hi Sing, There are basically 3 types of window film, #1 dyed where different colour dyes @ U.V inhibitors are added to give colour @ protection. #2 dyed/metal hybrid where as they also add a layer of diff metals on top of the dyed portion @ #3 pure metal films ( no dyes therefore no fading or colour change) this is a little simplified , and the main diff between film manufacturers comes with the quality of polyester. dyes @ types of metals / ceramics used. C.P Films is the largest film manufacturer in the world ( Llumar is their lower line, Vista @ Formula One is their upper line) so in your case I would say that Huper.@ V-cool would last longer on your home than Llumar. in your car yes c.p doesn't sell 70% film for windsheilds as it is illegal to film front glass in autos in north america. I have tinted the front windshield in my car with a metal 50% film and yes it makes a big difference @ nobody ( police ) has noticed. If you need more information I can give, but be warned it will be a long reply. take care Sean

Thanks for the detailed info svtsean.

Actually, there is one bit of info you can supply me with. For a film for the home, if my priority is to maximize heat rejection while cutting out the least amount of light, which film would you recommend, given that in Sngapore, the choice is suncool, Llumar, v-kool & huper?

p.s and Darbh, you're most welcomed.

Hi, to keep out the maximum amount of heat without going dark you need a Spectra select film Vista V-60 with 58% total Heat Regection or Huper @ V-Cool ( I guess whatever is available close to you for the best price ) Sean

svtsean -- Hello.

Nice to have you here on the forum. You seem to have a good amount of info on film.

I believe my car, a Lexus LS430, has both a radio and a GPS antenna under the rear window. I also understand that metallic films interfer with radio waves, therefore with reception through antennae that are below the metallic film. As to antenna that are directly on the underside of the window, although the tint is not above the antenna, the idea is that the tint still degrades the antenna performance (for a technical reason I won't mention, because it would make this post much longer). This is a common belief on the Window Tint forun at Edmunds.com.

The common wisdom there is that if you have an antenna under the rear window, you should use dyed film, despite its drawbacks. A few members there posted info about Hupert film, believeing that it might offer a better solution: stability (no fading), high heat rejection compared to visible light rejection, and no interference with radio waves. I asked a national Hupert distributor about the "no radio wave interference" idea, and he said, yes, the film had been tested and did not interfere.

I wonder if you have comments or suggestions about choice of films when radio reception is an issue?

Hi darbh, I see your problem @ yes you prob should use a quality dyed film. Fomula one has a new dyed film out called classic that when put in the " 3000 hour " ageing machine showed us very little colour change compared to the older version of there film, this was due to a new process they have of extruding the dyes into the manufacturing procces. ( they will not tell us exactly as they don't want competition copying the process) So this is the way to go. I guess it really depends on how long you keep your car @ how long it stays out in direct sunlight. e.g I have an 89 Mustang that was tinted in 91 with the old dyed film and the car is allways indoors except sundays during the summer months. The film on this car is still perfect with no fadeing or bubbling, and this film was only a 3 to 5 year warranty! The only problem I can see with Huper or V-Cool is getting warranty down the road, as there simly just aren't that many dealers who are willing to part with $20,000 for there first order and compete in the market with a film that costs 3 times as much as other high end films. I know I have a hard time selling F-1 film to people who think by price first! I 'm getting sick and tired of people asking me How much to tint my car with the best film for the cheapest price. They know nothing ( and don't seem to care ) about the installation process or the quality of product, or the fact that we computer cut there film for perfect fittment ( no using blades on there glass ) or our shop is extremly clean all the time, we use specified chemicals to clean the glass @ install the film , not just some dish soap !. I can go on , but I'm sure you get my point. good luck in finding the correct film for your car, it seems you are going in the right direction @ I hope you end up satisfied. Sean

One of the reasons I chose to lose 80 pounds was that my weight was unhealthy for so many reasons.

One of those reasons was blood pressure.

When I weighed 310 (4.5 months ago!), my BP was 140/90. WAY too high. (Should be between 100/60 - 120/70)

Now... my weight is 229, BP is 95/50!!!!

Good decision on the weight loss!

Keep it up Bill, your story finally inspired me to get back in the gym and start eating right. I'm down 11lbs so far, with 10 more to get to my goal. Keep it up and keep us informed, it's inspiring!
