That’s a bummer. I just Blackfired our Subaru this past weekend and dropped it off for it’s 15k service at the dealer this morning. They have washed the car in the past and so I was gonna make sure and mention it to the service clerk. After reading your post I did that as well as putting a sticky note on the instrument cluster.

That really sucks Al. I know how you feel, it's makes you very upset to know that all your hard work is ruined by some slacked jawed wash boy.:down I would have a few not so nice words with their service manager, especially since you specifically told them not to wash it. Some peoples' incompetence in regards to their job is truly amazing, I wonder how they keep themselves from getting fired.

This happened to me multiple times. I was really upset since it was just after I had the car looking perfect and had about 4-5 coats of zaino on it. I only had it about month at the time. I basically had to use SMR and start the process over it was swirled up so bad.

I always bring the car to the dealer when it is clean after a wash so I can inspect for dents and dings more easily that they might of put in. The car was so clean and detailed I am surprised they did wash it for it looked better when I brought it in than after they washed it.

Anyhow, talk to the service manager....he might give you a credit for a detail.....pass on that and use the credit for a tint job or alarm install,etc,etc......

Someone needs to make a "DO NOT WASH THIS CAR" steering wheel cover, sorta like the covers they make for spare tires. Everyone here would buy them.

I agree or the dealership work order should have a space for

"DO NOT WASH AFTER SERVICE!!!!" If checked no washing will occur. If so the dealership would and should be held liable for damages. The verbal relaying does not seem to work.

I might just make out a form on word that the service manager has to sign before you release your car to them. Heck, they make you sign a bunch of times! It should be easy enough...

exactly what I was telling them in the chatroom last night.....

I made one that I taped to my steering wheel. You guessed it, they didnt wash it. :up

Al - forgive me if I'm thoroughly confused, but I thought you worked at a Mercedes dealer?? I could be way wrong, and apologize if I am, but if you do work at MB, why would you go elsewhere for service?

Just curious and possibly confused. :)

I think he said he worked for a toyota dealer ;)

Al, I would think you would know better.

My dealers car wash is a automatic one. I tape my sign to my rear view mirror (cause everyone has to look there at least once when moving the car)

better luck next time :(

thats exactly why I have a floormat I swiped from an old vehicle of mine that's vinyl/rubber. It goes in on the driver's side whenever the vehicle goes in for service. (just incase they forget the paper mat)

I NEVER let the dealership monkeys wash my car. they're so busy at the BMW dealership I go to, I don't think they could do a good job if I tried.

I mad the mistake of complaining about some makrs in the paint that I couldn't seem to get out on my own. they apparently took a power buffer to my car and put some mean swirl marks on my hood. they topped that off by using wayy to much tire dressing on the tires so by the time I arrived at home with the car it had slung off and sprayed all over both sides of my white car. it wasn't just a little bit either.

I hate most dealer courtesy washes. Most of them just spray the cars down with water, dry with a rag, and spray some tire dressing on the tires <em class='bbc'>and[/i] wheels.

However, my BMW dealer actually is pretty good. They know what a swirl mark is, and know how to use a D.A. PC to correc them. They also sell and occasionally use repackaged P21S and Meguiar's stuff, BMW Gummi-Pfledge, and also Klasse.

:up

Most of my regular customers know not only to not let the dealer wash their cars when being serviced, but to also pass on make-ready when they pick up a new car. Too many dealers let some $5.50 an hour kid loose on a new car with a buffer and wool pads. Not only are there swirls everywhere, but white crap in all the emblems and between body panels.
