Blackfired!!!!!!!

I received my BlackFire today - I ordered the New Car Kit (included the Sonus Wheel Gel (thanks!!)) and a bottle of the Quick Detailer spray.

I must say that this product is extremely easy to use and is almost fool proof. I had prepared the car on Sunday, in anticipation of receiving the product on Monday.

Washed with dawn, clayed with claymagic bar (fine), Meguiar's #9 2.0 Swirlremover (to get rid of some light swirls), followed with a touch of P21S Paintwork cleaner, and re-washed with dawn. Covered the car overnight and waited for UPS.

Got the product, read the directions and went to the garage. The polish applies very easily with the Porter Cable and the White CMA pad. I used two pads during the process - the first one caked up after about 3/4 of the car. I should say that I was working the polish 'in' with the buffer, making sure I had good coverage. The residue came off immediately and easily with the help of a MF towel.

Didn't have any of the CMA grey pads, so I used one of my Griots red pads (for waxing). A little BF on the pad and away I went. It's super easy to apply and even easier to buff off. It was cold at my house today - in the low 50's, but the BF still hazed quickly. It buffed off with a MF very easily.

I stepped back and looked at it - it was awesome. Looked just like when I applied Souveran, only I knew this will probably last longer. I decided to apply a second coat since I had extra time (the whole car only took about 1 hour to apply/remove).

I have a grey car (Mercedes E420) and it helped the finish somewhat, maybe more coats will help more. Grey is a hard color to judge...Reflections were crystal clear - I could read the 'danger' sign on my garage door opener motor through the hood, roof and decklid. Not bad!

The BF stuff smells good - the polish has a slightly chemical odor mixed with fruit, the sealer has a fairly strong fruit smell and the spray has a good fruit smell. I also think the spray is easier to use than Z6 - the 'spray thingy' is much 'neater' and sprays nicely.

So far so good. I'll be applying more coats of the sealer after I get back from vacation!

I think if you try it, you'll like it. It's really nice that you can use a buffer with the product and that it's almost idiot proof. I found myself putting too much on at times but it never 'burned' me.

It's funny how whenever I take my car out of the garage, it rains. This morning, I took the Mustang out so that we could work on the Bug. Not even 10 minutes had passed when a 5 minute sunshower passes by.... Anyways, I got my first look at how Blackfire sheets water from rain. Basically, it didn't bead. The water did find some places where it did not roll off and there was a water spot....just one big one instead of the usual freckles from beading. But YoSteve's new MF's to the rescue! A couple of swipes and good as new.

My son headed back to Orlando and I probably won't see the car for about a month. Rest assured, it will be subjected to squashed bugs sitting on the hood, no garage, sun and rain, and probably no washes. It will be a good torture test for Blackfire especially since we only managed to get one coat of Protectant on today.

I was trying to figure that out as well. The bottle is not transparent and you can't really see. I did shake the bottle to try to get an idea, but I can only guess that it was still almost full.?? The bottle is 16 ounces and I estimate that it takes the same amount of product as Zaino would to do the car. My son used an MF applicator, but I did a few sections with a foam pad with the Protectant. Obviously, that allowed a thinner coat and I am pretty sure that it would use less product with the foam pad, similar to Zaino or Klasse. I also think I used too much Zaino on the Accord, but it was really difficult on the silver to see where I had put the stuff, so I probably put it on thicker than I should have. Blackfire is a bit thicker than Klasse, and about the same consistency of Zaino. I'm not quite sure how that would affect application, but it seems that it might.

So given the facts that Blackfire is 16 oz, and Zaino 8 oz and Klasse 16 oz, it should yield about the same as Klasse and twice that of Zaino...give or take a few Maxima's! ;)

Nice results on the Beetle, BigBoyhf. I bet the Mustang looks even better.

It sounds like BF is a winner. I especially like that it it's pretty much easy on/easy off (by hand or PC).

Next time I see a reflective bright blue Beetle on the Sawgrass, I'll know where it came from!!

BTW, Happy Thanksgiving! =8~)
