Blackfired the Integra

I couldn't take it any more. I had to Blackfire my car. I've been sitting here staring at my Blackfire bottles long enough. The weather wasn't very warm but it was good enough. I got some dawn and my bucket of supplies and out the door I go. I am 'garage challanged' so I went to my favorite car wash. There is a sink and faucet with warm water so I did a good bucket wash with Dawn. I washed it twice just to make sure. Then I clayed the areas that had IFO. I have to say that I love clay! :D Damn fine stuff! I couldn't believe how smooth the surface was after I was done. I can't wait to do my wife's car.

After I clayed, I did another bucket wash with the Blackfire shampoo. Really nice stuff. I pulled the car into a bay to rinse it with the high pressure sprayer. I think that is the first time I have ever left time on the clock when I drove out.

The polish worked very well. Swirls were disapearing as fast as I could put it on. As far as ease of application I think that it rates up there with Klasse. AIO is a little eaiser to use but not by much. The Blackfire polish takes out swirls a lot better than Klasse AIO does though. I'll endure a little more work to use it if it is going to work so well.

The All Finish Paint Protection worked unbelieveably well!! :scared I wasn't ready for it to look that great with just the one coat! It went on very easily and buffed off easy as well. I still can't get over how good it looks. Much better than Klasse. I only say that because Klasse gives a great shine but this stuff makes my whole car glow! The reflection is a lot better than with Klasse IMO. Not to mention how much better it is at removing swirls. I was looking at my car in some pretty unforgiving light the other day and now all the swirls I saw then are gone. :xyxthumbs Awesome stuff! Really great on white.

I tried to get a picture but my car is so stinking hard to shoot and actually get a true image.... This is a pretty good shot but I'm sure I'll get more. :)

Great to hear your success on BF! I've put on 6 coats on a WHITE IS300 as well and the shine had been nice, especially if you park it next to another white car on a sunny day, the difference is really noticeable.



As you noticed, it goes on and comes off so easy so I hope you lay out more coats though. You mileage may vary, but my own experience had been disappointing during first 2 coats because the shine would fade after each wash, then as I approach to coat#6 it's been holding up quite nicely. I'm on my 3rd wash after coat#6 and I can honestly say the shine is almost the same as the last time I put it on. I don't know if there is any explanation to this but IMO BF must be layered with 4-5 coats to achieve the best results and durability.

Glad to hear you like it!! I have 4 coats on and I havent noticed a loss of shine to even worry about!! Cant wait to put some more on!!:D
 
I hope you keep putting on more layers. I've only got up to four and found that i still had problems with durability. Hopefully you'll have better results than i.
 
I plan on getting another 1 or 2 coats on each time I wash it. If it keeps looking better and better then I may never stop. I still can't believe how smooth that sucker is! I took Jennifer out tonight and ran into a buddy of mine. He knew I was obsessive about my car and knew how much Klasse I had on there. He said that my car looked really different from the last time he saw it. I told him about the Blackfire. He was amazed that my car looked better now than it did with over a dozen layers of Klasse. :) I love this stuff!:xyxthumbs

Much better than Klasse, I should hope so! Blackfire is a brand new formula, while Klasse is like 20 years old? From the pic it doesn't look all that better. I do plan on getting some blackfire or Zaino this summer...
 
I washed it and reapplied a second coat on Wednesday. I was a little dissapointed that it stopped beading. I knew it would but I was hoping I would get lucky. Oh well. Whatever works.



The second coat was still really easy to apply and buff off. I can't figure out exactly how much product I'm using per coat. I'd say it is on the same level as Klasse or so. It is a little thicker than Klasse so its hard to say. It doesn't seem to spread as much. I still think it is an awesome product. The second coat really brought out the gloss of the car. It looks really nice.



One of the things I've noticed is that it is really easy to wipe down when you get the small splash marks off the wheel wells. I drove through a small amount of water and splashed a little up on the fenders but it wiped right off without a problem this morning. The surface definatly feels slicker than with Klasse.



A problem I've noticed (and maybe this is just me) is that it seems to attract dirt faster than with Klasse. With a white car you can't really see the dirt anyway but I've really noticed it attracting dirt quicker than with Klasse or with my PPG topper. Anyone else noticing that or have I just been driving down dusty roads lately? It has been awhile since we had snow so it might just be that.
 
After four coats of Blackfire on my car I must say the paint is looking like liquid. A deep wet shine. Definitely not the candy coated look you get with Klasse.
 
Man.... I just wrote this huge long post and then I lost it all because it said that I had to take out a picture. Then I lost it all. Grrrrrrr..... I'll start over I guess.

I have only found 2 downsides to Blackfire. The first one is pretty obvious....

That isn't so bad though. I miss my wonderful, beautiful beads but I got this in trade....

I'd say that reflection like that is worth the trade for beading. Yes? I'm so impressed with how it shines. Amazing.

The other downside I've found with Blackfire is the attraction of dirt on the back of my car. All over the back of the trunk and the top of the bumper gets coated with dirt almost before I even get home from the car wash. I'm hoping that it will go away after a layer or two of carnuba. We'll see. I think the upsides of Blackfire is way above the downsides.

White has been such a hard color to get a good reflection out of. Blackfire has exceeded all my expectations of it. I get amazing reflections now. When it is at work I can see people circle it on their way out of the parking lot. It isn't that spectacular of a car but the shine really attracts attention. This last picture really shows off some reflections in the hood and side. I am really loving Blackfire!

I've seen the same dirt/dust attraction problem with BF that you described. I'm may try a few extra layers this weekend, and then do a final buff with the PC and MF bonnet. See if that makes any difference. I'll let you know.
 
I am enjoying blackfire because it is such an easy product to work with. I don't have as much time as I would like to detail the car, so I appreciate this.



Although I can't tell if the product is really working. I bought my car new and it already had an excellent shine. Look like Honda had a good coat of wax on it. Blackfire seem to be maintaining that shine. It is a mirror shine. I guess only time will tell if it continues to protect that shine it already has.



Anyway, my question is, how do I know if I am applying the product correctly. I follow the instructions, put a nickel size amount of product for a section of the car, hood, door, etc. The product in the beginning is good but diminishes by the time I get all the way across. So the dry glaze at the beginning is good but hardly can be seen at the other end. I hope this makes sense. I am just trying to figure out if I am doing this right. When I try to add more product on the other end that seems like it didn't get enough, it strikes.



Techniques would be appreciated.

Jman, the pics are pretty nice buddy. If you're really disappointed with beading I'm pretty darn sure you can just slap on some carnauba on top after 10 or so coats of the Blackfire. Laters
 
Yeah. I'm not very patient though. :) I started slapping on the carnuba after coat #5. It looks much better with carnuba. Hopefully it will start to bead again.
