Hey Todd, awesome work as I have gotten used to from you. I have a question about the midnight sun nuba wax. I don't get the topping of a sealant with carnuba. I thought that sealants were more durable? THe BFWD is super slick and nothing sticks to it. It last a long time and you can maintain it with the BF spray sealant to keep it in top shape. Why top with a carnuba wax that take more time to apply, attracts all kinds of road grime and needs to be stripped off before you add more sealant (or carnuba).
I just never "got it" with the topping a sealant with wax. I have tried it myself and I don't see much of a difference other than the reflections are not as crisp after adding the nuba.
So from your standpoint what did I miss?
Great question! Ultimately the debate of a sealant vs. a carnauba wax will likely rage on in the detailing world (forums/car shows/trade shows/etc) forever, and each side may never agree with the other. I'm defiantly not entering into the war,![]()
Blackfire Wet Diamond is an excellent stand alone sealant and is one of the best out there. It is certainly my favorite.
That said there are a lot of people who love the deeper look that a premium carnauba wax produces. By designing the two products to work together (although each is absolutely great on their own!) it offers the carnauba user the abililty to get the look they want with the durability of a high-gloss sealant underneath.
If your a sealant guy, go with Blackfire Wet Diamond.
If your a premium carnauba user, go with Blackfire Midnight Sun.
If you enjoy layering then the "Wet Ice Over Fire" combination is formulated to work together. It is the best of three worlds. :bigups
