Blackfire Wet Ice over Fire on Blue: AMAZING

Wow, I like the blue GTO the best.

those are some pretty dripping wet looking finishes you achieved there :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Allright I'll bite, what is the cure time for the first coat and subsequent coats after that Todd? anyway order on the way.

Im also curious to your technique with it Todd, I have found the results to "seem" better leaving the first coat to cure overnight or for several hours and then applying a second coat, havent gone for a third yet.. :drool5:

BTW, AMAZING CARS AND WORK OF COURSE!

Im still not to sure which gives better results, applying Blackfire Carnauba Paste Wax by hand or machine.

I tried both and have yet to come to a conclusion on which I like more, or which gives better results.

On a weird side note... Every time I read one of your posts I always read in in your accent like you where narrating the thread to me. Does anybody else who knows Joe do this as well?

From page three of this thread

"Cure time is the amount of time it takes for the product to fully harden and cross link (this usually occurs after the excess product has been removed).

Allowing the product to set up overnight or for an extended period of time should offer no benefit to the process, because the only part of sealant that bonds is the super thin layer that actually is contact with the paint.

So if we apply the product the paint and let it dry to a haze, we no have a thick layer of useless product sitting on top of the product that has bonded to the paint. This could slow the curing process to some degree, so it is actually ideal to remove the product with some speed.

As noted you can let Wet Diamond dry (haze) or remove it will still wet (the thin, microscopic layer that 'bonds' to the paint does so almost upon contact). Once the residue is removed it begins to cure.

How long to let it cure? Heat and humidity will affect this, so as a full proof suggestion, we recommend 12-24 hours. Realistically this occurs much faster (unless you are in a frozen tundra or the Brazilian Rainforrest). Apply two coats with little cure time in between isn't going to cause any problems and still will provide a measurable benefit, it just might not be the maximum benefit.

So wait as long as you can and don't sweat it"

Ideally we would wait at least 12 hours for subsequent coats to get the MOST benefit from each individual application. Since this isn't usually a reality I will try to do as many small tasks between coats and give it at least one to two hours.

I think that two coats are better then one, even if you cannot wait the optimal length between coats. It still offers some benefit in leaving behind a more even coating then one coat.

My technique for application is that I will usually go around the car with a Porter Cable and a Concours Gold Foam pad (using two small drops of product) and apply to 1/6th to 1/4 of the car. I then wipe the residue off instantly, before it is completely dry.

After applying Wet Diamond to the entire vehicle, section by section, in this manner, I will go back with a foam applicator and apply to all the areas I couldn't reach with the Porter Cable, removing as soon as I apply. Then I will do things such as wheels, tires, interior, etc., to build up as much time between coats as possible.

Instant cure time!! , with that you could put three coats on in less than an hour. Todd the gold pad is perfect for what you described, I use the Flex DA or the Festool(Flex is acting up is is at the Flex headquarters being repaired). Oh BTW do people in California have accents:wink: only ahnold does when he says "kaifornya".

I have a picture of that blue lambo with different wheels from about 3/4 years ago. I thought it looked familair, not sure if its the same one but its damn close!

These are from hands down the most impressive car event in the entire planet! The Concorso Italiano. If you can go do it, dont even think twice about it. Best time to get your tickets is right now so you can book a hotel room close. I will post much more about this event, in another section
