Blackfire Questions

Under the professional detailing forum, bretfraz posted a link to a "quiz" on www.carwash.com (here)

I have a question about question 6: What is a tri-coat? A tinted clearcoat? Does the difference matter?

I have to admit, I do not know what a tinted clearcoat is and couldn't find it in the archives. Also, a tri-coat is the clearcoat system as I understand it.

Any input?

There are many types of clear coat, we all use basically the same methods of taking care of the clear, washing, polishing, sealing, etc.

Some of the newer ones may not respond to traditional approved 3M methods, but you'll find out quickly.

I don't know about tri-coat, but it's probably just an industry name of another company's product. You should treat it as any clear. Hopefully Ron can come back to tell us more.

Does anybody know if the Blackfire paint polish and the paint protection can be used on unpainted trim surfaces (textured and non textured).
I am refering to the window frames of my VW Passat (non textured) which looks like black plastic, and the lower sections of the vehicle which is not painted and has a light texture to it.
Thanks

I've used BFWD on outside trim surfaces (around the windows) and haven't had any problems. Just to be safe I would find a spot to test out first.

You shouldn't have any problems.. I'm just saying the above as a precaution.
