Black Wow?

Well, I think $25USD for 4oz. is way overpriced - I think I'll stick with Mother's B2B topped with 303 or DG AW and stack the cash I'll save.

It sounds like it is expensive but this stuff goes a LONG way. Richard (used to be on Autopia as OctaneGuy) sent me a free sample of BW. The bottle was very small but I applied it to all of the plastic trim around a Ford Explorer (no painted bumpers and trim 1/4 way up the sides) and I didn't put a dent in the sample bottle. If used as directed the price is more than justifiable and seems in line with the price of other detailing products.

Black Wow is still on my "To Buy" list. I just wish there was more money coming in than going out :(

As far as the OP's question about comparison to Meg's ASD, even though I have no experience with BW, I have and use Meg's ASD. It's a good, economical silicone tire dressing but it's performance on trim isn't any better than a product like Mother's Back-to-Black. In fact, I would say that I prefer B2B over ASD on trim, only because it's easier to apply, less messy, and the results/longevity are about the same. If you're buying ASD, buy it because you need an economical silicone dressing that lasts a couple of washes otherwise you might be disappointed.

WOW, That is all you needed for that section?

yep that's all you need, for half of the windshield trim. I needed to reapply for the rest. Richard aka Octane Guy designed it and manufactures it.

I detailed a car with it 2 months ago. saw it recently and its still there...i'd say prob 3 months or so before you need to reapply...imho

IIRC its Richards dad how makes it!

Here is my take, i got BW after alot of fanfare and excitement, it is expensive and you do only need a little.

On DD it holds up fine but not the cars i drive around in London and around industrial areas on cars with lots of black plastic.

I was getting around 3 weeks with Autoglym Bumper care and about 4 weeks driving in those areas with BW. Obviously the costs involved mean that i wont BW on there anymore.

Having said that my sisters car has had it for 8 weeks, 6 washes and about 850mi and its look great.

Think first of where the cars going and the low cost alternatives applied more often may acutally be better on the pocket.

That would cost at least as much and won't last nearly as long.

Use this to remove wax residue

Duragloss Duragloss WE (Wax Eraser)

top w/ RBD and you're good to go!

My wifes truck suffered from staining during my early years of using a great sealant that stained badly and I didn't mask off as I should have. I tried most methods offered here to no avail, used this product, et voila - stains were gone. Topped w/ RBD and the stained areas look like new.

No, I don't work for or receive free products from DG - I just like their stuff.

Ive always wondered how that stuff did and why it was so expensive. Ive tried megs trim detailer and it gives a nice look but doesnt last at all.

Lately Ive found that megs Hot tire shine Gel works awesome on exterior trim. I got a bottle in the 7 piece gift set at Christmas and found a bottle on sale for around $3 so I have two full bottles. I put it on my mud guards that are plastic over a month ago and they still have a nice matt finish(was kinda shiny at first). The same day I put megs trim detailer on my door handles and they have since faded and look the same as they did before I put it on them.

Not even close son. B2B is about $4.50 and lasts me two+ years. the amount of 303 or DG AW used is negligible and since I already have them for their obvious other uses, it would be plain foolish to buy a high priced product I don't really need.

No offense, but you fellas can hype a product you paid a lot for and justify it's use, but living through the obsession, I'm always on the lookout for the high quality products and solutions that do the job without emptying my wallet....that's my wife's job and she's damn good at it!

Yes it does. I agitate it with the side of my applicator and its gone.

I believe Octane Guy said Black Wow doesn't work on rubber.

that's correct. its not recommended on rubber.

Black Wow will leave streaks on paintwork if you over apply it. It is very thick and rich so use just a little.
