And to any moderator/David B/whoever makes these decisions, if I don't have my facts straight . . .
You don't.

OctaneGuy was warned about promoting his product several times before he was finally banned. Is there some reason he shouldn't have to play by the same rules as other vendors and manufacturers?

What is commercial solicitation/spamming?

If you post We/our/my company has... you are spamming!

If you post We/our/my product is... you are spamming!

If you post We/our/my customers'... you are spamming!

If you post We/our/my will be announcing... you are spamming!

If you post We/our/my test results for our... you are spamming!

If you post We/our/my can make or supply that... you are spamming!

If you are a "product seller" our rules do not allow you to use the site to "sell" your product. If your unaffiliated customers want to talk about your product, business practice or services, they are welcome to do so, however, as a vendor with a sales intent, you are not.

Oh, Alan W, how did that BW group buy you arranged over on Detailing World work out for you? No profit at all for you in that? Did it out of the goodness of your heart, did you? Not even a few free bottles for yourself? Very generous of you, I must say.

And skite, you might just lose your wager over on SCD . . . ShowCarDetailing - View Single Post - I got banned...

Could be sooner. Could be later. Maybe not at all. I'll guarantee you it won't be Wed. at 7:00 Eastern, though.

P.S. If you can find another car care forum that allows such open discussion on products that aren't sponsored, please, go there. We make every effort to squash spam, shills, and commercial postings, yet at the same time try to allow discussion on all product lines, as long as the posters involved are truly consumers, and not paid for their efforts.

Rules are rules...

However, with that post, it looks like you've only confirmed our suspicions that you all have QUITE the watchful eye on other forums...I wonder why? :think2

And might as well include a link to THE WHOLE thread, since you decided to only include one post. If its ok for a moderator to post part of the thread, it must be ok for the whole thing, right? I find the thread interesting actually: I got banned... - ShowCarDetailing

I'd be interested in hearing the reason behind why the others were banned though (i.e. Calogero) - Please do tell Mr. "Nazi" Moderator, as you so elegantly put it. Even though he clearly had no affiliation, nor any means of profit, for promoting this product. Or maybe I am wrong YET again. I do recall that he might be the Canadian distributor for Black Wow. Is that the still the case? Just curious...

"Our" suspicions? You have a mouse in your pocket or something? Who else, exactly, is having these "suspicions"?

In this case, another Autopian PM'ed me the links to SCD and DW (which I appreciate, by the way; it saves me googling all over to try to figure out who's on which payroll). See, most of our members appreciate that we try to keep the spam to a minimum, and report suspicious postings to moderators. Apparently, at least one Autopian smells the stench of canned shoulder of pork and ham in this thread.

Honestly, if you think Autopia's anti-spam policies are so draconian, why bother to return? There are plenty of forums out there where vendors and manufacturers pimp their products constantly in the threads . . . perhaps you'd be more comfortable posting somewhere like that?

If so, you've answered you're own question, haven't you?

This thread has outlived its usefulness.

I'm not going to air Richard's Lin's (or anyone other) dirty laundry in public. The individuals banned know why they were banned. They were all conducting spam and shilling operations. I make no excuses for banning people who are breaking the rules.

I will tolerate this conversation for about… Oh... another three seconds. Best to not bring the piss-ant crap from other forums over here. Personally, I don't give a rat's a$$ what they say about me!!!
