Black Olive Cayenne Turbo

I was called the other day by Porsche to fix a new Cayenne that had been damaged during transport from Chicago. It's a new color for Porsche and the color itself is just amazing....beautiful is th eonly word I can find to describe it properly but who ever wiped it down was a real weanie!

It had alot of grit on it and someone must of took a damp towel and tried to wipe the car down and just scratched the hell out of the paint. Then someone tried to remove the scratches but ended up introducing halograms :furious:

When I pulled it into the garage area of the Porsche dealer the lighting only showed more damage...it actually needed to be wetsanded in some areas but the new owner was coming the next morning to pick it up so time was not on my side.

I used only Optimum Polish and four different pads to level the paint and then remove swirls. My first pad choice was an orange pad at 1500 rpm's. I then used an Opt green pad at 1400 rpm's and I then switched to a blue pad at 1200 rpm's. I finished it with a Opt white pad at 1100 rpm's.

I hit it with a Cyclo in a few of the worse areas to finish it off. Topped it with OCW and BnB on the tires.

I also used a beta sample of Optimum's new window cleaner which did a great job but I had to first polish out the hard water spots on the glass with my Cyclo and Opt polish.

Here are a few AFTER pics. This color is black at certain times but when in the sun it takes on a golden green color....it's just an intense color :xyxthumbs

It looks a bit better now, this was how the whole car looked in the full sun.

I wish I could of took more pics but my camera card was full, as it is I had to delete a few to include this :(

Thanks,

Anthony

Wow, that really *is* a great color!

Interesting that you were able to do all the correction steps with just the OCP and different pads.

I fully agree with you, Accumulator. This is a perfect example of how the process is just as, if not more, important than the products. Great job Anthony!

Excellent transformation, Anthony! Not only are the holograms gone but the paint looks rich, deep and wet, even in the full sun shots. :)

You aren't kidding about the color...awesome!

nice job! where in texas do you live?

Thank you, I live in San Antonio.

Sean ,

Thank you very much :)

Lightng ,

Thank you also and I am sure this color would look great on a number of cars, like a Turbo Porsche and yeah, an M3 :grinno:

Accumulator ,

I had actually started out with the Opt Compound but found that the Polish did just as well, perhaps taking longer, but left less to clean up in terms of swirls. Thank you also for the compliments.

And I also wish to thank the rest of you all for the kind words :)

You are the man!

Beautiful job, as all your work is. Any update on the nasty Volvo you have/had? Finished, or still working on that bad boy?

Great recovery. Im sure you did a lot of work doing all those polishing passes, but it shows, it really looks awesome.

Nice to see also dealer who wants to make the vehicle right before delivery. So many of the dealerships around here would have just covered it up with glaze, or delivered in the rain.

Hey thanks :)

Yeah I am still working on that nasty Volvo, I do though have some updated pictures but have had problems with transferring pictures from my camera to my computer. I bought a card reader last night and that seems to have been the problem, a bad USB cable that came with my camera so I should be able to post up some of those updated pics later tonight.

Wow, great job Anthony. My friend has a black Subaru that looks very similar to that color.

I used to detail for a Porshe/Audi dealership here in MA and it seems like all the cars had a lot of bebris in the paint, mostly on the top surfaces. Even on the new car preps I had to clay them and run the buffer over them because they were so bad. Do you notice the same thing ?? It could be that their storage lot was near a wooded area and was prone to dirt and so forth.

Just curious if you found the same thing??

Truthfully I don't think all the glaze in the world would of covered that ugly mess up :chuckle: It may have helped but I also truly believe that had it been deliverd like that the owner would of refused delivery because the scatches just SCREAMED out at ya :soscared:

Funny you mention rain....the guy never showed up to pick up the Cayenne at the appointed time so he came yesterday to get it, late afternoon....in the middle of heavy rain!! :grrr I am sure it is trashed now.....hopefully it will be washed carefully.

Thanks again,

Anthony

Hey Rick, thanks!

Most of the Porsches they call me in to do have some form of crud on or in the paint but not to the level of this particular Cayenne. This Cayenne had fine grit or sand all over it, I mean even in the interior. As if it was in a sand storm and then it was wiped down dry instead of washed. The interior also had Alcantara in it so I sure hope the new owner cares for this car properly.....I am sure I'll see it in the future again and I hope it won't be trashed out as that would be criminal :sadpace:

I personally think that the most damage comes from lot washers. Those guys who come along in a truck and pressure wash the lot cars down and then chamois dry them. This is where I believe the cars receive the majority of their marring. If a dealer had covered parking and cared for the car properly and had them correctly prepped and detailed they would sell more cars, far more than the average dealer.

Take care,

Anthony

Wow, that looks awesome!!!

How did you get "in" with the prosche dealership? Word of mouth through a client? Do they pay "your" price, or do you have a diiferent price for them?
