Speechless, utterly speechless. The level of perfection and clarity of the surface is an accomplishment I don't think any of us have seen before. You both are a rare talent in this industry! Any chance for you to take pics after the car is fully assembled?

That bodyshop really runs out some incredible paint work. If that body shop wasnt so far away, They'd definitely by my choice when it comes time to paint anything I own. I'm glad they found you guys to really make it shine. Happy 4th guys!

Rick,

Are you still doing the dealership thing at all or are you and Rydawg putting all your time into building this business together? I love reading the threads that you guys do together.

That is ridiculous!!! That has to be the blackest black I have ever seen....Seriously.

Top notch work, guys. But what else is new?!?!

That would have been a great vehicle to test out sandpaper refinement on. I wounder how much easier polishing could have been if you final sanded it all the way down to 12,000?

I assume you would use an air compressed orbital when sanding an entire car with 12,000?

all I can say is WOW! having worked 20+ hours correcting the paint on one car and not getting it nearly as flawless as you guys...you have my respect! Nice Job!

Holy christ that just looks amazing!!!! My jaw dropped to the floor.

I need to get the girl's coupe looking like this. It seems every time I look at it I find new scratches. It seems to scratch very easy, but it is the biggest PITA to correct. There are some fairly good size scratches on the trunk that I tried to do first and my SSR2.5 with even my purple wool/foam wouldn't cut it.

I believe it was mostly repainted from previous owner it seems to have a lot more orange peel than other G35s I have looked at, more than my G Sedan too, may explain why it seems to be rock hard.

Once again though my god looks like I could swim in the paint.

first off thats just wow, 2 why the f would someone do that to a car, and 3 I kinda giggled a litte If I say someone washing that in at a car war I would just be confused.... but again wow

Great work again guys! The reflections in that car's paint are literally perfect. With the lack of orange peel, it really is a black mirror.

I'm so jealous! I wish my car didn't have its factory orange peel. It makes me want to have my car repainted, LoL.

Wow, I was out of town for just one day and this thread is already 5 pages long!!

I just want to say thank you to everyone for all of the really, really nice comments! A job like this is very tedious and it takes lots of time to do it the correct way. Sometimes it feels like you're not getting anywhere when you're working on the same panel for over an hour and you just want to quit. Seeing the end result and hearing all of your great compliments makes it all worth it! Thanks everyone!!

I will try to answer as many of your questions as I can in the next post...

AZ Ferrari Man- The body shop does excellent paintwork, but they prefer to bring the cars to us for refinishing because it is what we do best. Ever since I detailed the body shop owners personal car last year http://www.autopia.org/forum/click-brag/101504-black-supercharged-infiniti-g35-coupe-custom.html , he told me that I was the only one he would ever let touch his cars from that point on. The shop owner is the first one to admit that they can't buff a car without burning through the clear and having the end result being a swirly mess. I think more body shops should learn from them. They basically offer the customer an upgraded package to have an orange peel and swirl free finish.

03k20a2- A wholesale rate of $40/hour was charged for this particular job.

sofresh- The car was sanded by the body shop.

TH0001- Todd, maybe someday!! Too funny...

roadmaster_Tx- Spies Hecker is the name of the paint and clear used on this car. It is definitely the hardest paint I have ever worked on in my 15 years of detailing.

David Fermani- David, I am curious as well. I have a couple more of these type jobs coming up in the near future that I would like to experiment with.

GoFastTSI- Unfortunately, I was not able to take any pictures of the car after it was all assembled.

Way2SSlow- I still do cars for Bay State from time to time, but the retail work has been so busy that I just can't keep up with it. I have been working between 70 and 80 hours per week since the shop opened up and really need some time off to give my body a break. If things keep up like they have been, I will need to find a bigger place very soon.

Thanks again everyone!!!

Jaw Drops...

I own a black G35 and I could only DREAM about having a finish like that.

How much was the repaint? Looks like they did a stellar job.
