Black Friday deals for detailers

I arrived at Wal-Mart at 4:45am, to pick up a Garmin GPS. The doors opened at

5:00am and there were already over 100 people in line! Fortunately for me, I

knew exactly where the units were located and was able to get one before they

sold out.

I never knew how crazy Black Friday was until today. People were flying around

with their shopping carts in all directions. It was totally insane.

Thanks for the post. I just went over to sears and pickup up one of the 1000-watt lights as I didn't have one.

at 9:00am there was parking at my local mall, still about 30 lights left and the line was only three people deep. I had no plans on getting up early and I am glad I didn't as it felt like any normal day at my local mall.

Though yesterday after turkey I took my son for a drive (only way to get him to nap) and we drove over by the local Best Buy and there already a line at about 4:00pm on thanksgiving. I guessed it was about 20 people standing in the freezing cold.

I stayed in today, ordered my Flex buffer from Autogeek on sale and a couple other items. Used code TURKEY15 and saved 15percent off everything but the buffer.

i'm pretty tempted to do an order as well! they just got in the new LC 5.5 gray flat pads, which would be perfect to apply lps's (been using a 4" cyclo pad with the PC)...

Never been to a BestBuy early enough to see the crowds you're talking about, but I've seen a Fry's electronics crowd before and that was just crazy.

Best Buy is worse IMO because Fry's ALWAYS has an organized system of checking out. They have the most checkout lanes WITH cashiers out of any retail stores. During Xmas, BB will form one big line but they still don't have anywhere near the amount of registers that Fry's has.

i just went to home depot to buy the rigid vac. they still have tons of them.

I just came home from HD also to pick up the Rigid Vac. There were plenty left and it looks like most of their BF deals were still available.

Consumer spending is definitely different this year than last. The $30 vacs were all gone by the time I got there last year. I noticed the same thing at Lowes. Many of their BF deals were still available. At this point, the deals I've seen so far aren't good enough to make people go out and spend $$$. I have a feeling many of the retailers will be hurting this holiday season.

you have a point. i was commenting to a friend today, how people aren't spending money like they use to. then the thought of president bush came up...

Megan and I were coming home from the pub around 12:15pm and the South Saint Paul BB had 22 cars and over 25 people already in line. Flipping morans.

I got up at 9:45 this morning!

I got up once on Black Friday to get a cheap laptop; at 6AM they were all gone. Never again!

I got a Little Green Machine a few months back to clean up after one of my kids got sick. It's slow going for larger areas but just the thing for spots.
Well I worked the last two years for Circuit City seasonally for extra cash and the discount and they changed things now where before you had to get in line and get a voucher, then you would bring it to the counter and buy it. So if you had a voucher you were guaranteed that item that day. Now they only have one or two items that are the "door busters" and otherwise EVERYTHING else (minus stuff like CDs and that crap) can be ordered from their warehouse's. The other thing that they didn't tell you about the vouchers is that you have until 2pm to pay for the item. So theoretically you could go get the voucher at 4am go home go back to bed and just get to the store by 2pm and pay for it. But they want you in that store to hope something else peaks your buying impulse.

The people that cracked me up were the ones that strolled in at noon and couldn't understand why we were out of the little memory cards that were $5 normally $40. Don't advertise if you dont have it!! Dude, the store has been open for 8 freaking hours!

Oh and about the LGCM, the "turbo" brush cracked me up. I could move it faster than my hand. Oh well, got the job done now its back to Target. God bless their return policy.

We also went to Mall of America tonight because she wanted to go to Victorias Secret and it was the closest one. We got there at 630pm and after having dinner left at 10pm and it was wonderful. Very normal Friday night there.

I didn't do any shopping today, but in the past I've done that, gone out around 6 and it's just a normal Friday night, seemingly.

My son wanted a brand new wii game that was on sale for $35 (normally $59), we decided we were not going go that early and just take our chances.

We got there at noon they were all gone off the shelves, he asked a clerk if they had any more - the clerk had JUST found three of them moments before and we got the last one..in and out on 35 minutes..SCORE..ha ha
