Black & Decker MS1000 cyclone 4-in-1 sander

This is a random orbit sander which I was given as a gift a while ago, but I'd like to use it to buff and polish my car (black paint). Does anyone know if this would be adequate? I've done all the research I can and can't find anything with regards to whether this sander would also work as a buffer/polisher.

It doesnt have a rotation mode right? If not then you won't get much of any correction from it. could use to spread wax though, maybe.

I gather it does work as a conventional random-orbital unit, and some of the most popular polishers were originally designed to be finish sanders, BUT...I doubt that unit has the oomph to do any serious correction (compounding/polishing) as 1.4 amps doesn't sound like much and 5" pads aren't exactly tiny.



Within its limitations it will probably work OK, but it might only be capable of "working" mild products like paint cleaners, all-in-one products, and waxes. Like most such machines, I'd think of it as "a fast hand that doesn't get fatigued", but in this case it might be a "not-very-strong fast hand".
