Black cars

Wow, what the heck does this have to do with black cars?

Everything!

Some of the worst "Lazarus" projects I have done have been black cars... with black interiors, no less!

PS: to your neighbors with the dogs...

If they do decide they no longer want them, try to convince them to take them to a no kill shelter or to contact a rescue organization for that breed. They will find someone to love and care for them. I have a rescued dog ( my wife's Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who was rescued from a puppy mill in PA). Bailey gets along great with my other two dogs Bernie and Murphy.

Snowskate, I think you've already touched on many reasons why black is so popular. What is more mind boggling to me is that the majority of the public does not care for their paint, yet these same people insist on owning black cars. They love to go to the car wash once a week and let those vertical street sweepers nearly sand the finish right off their car. But don't worry, they spent the extra buck for the hot wax. :wall

The sad truth is this: most people really don't know what they're doing with many things in life and here's a really good example. The neighbor on my left is an 87 yr old frail man who recently got a dog. Guess which breed? An 18 month old huge German Shepherd with an anger problem. A real wise choice for an elderly man with bad knees and hips. The neighbor on my right is a single woman who is never home. She also wanted a dog so she got a high energy breed that requires lots of exercise that it never receives. Then she complains about how hyper the dog is. She'll probably give it away or even worse think about putting it down because it's "Too much for her". So this dog will die because this lady doesn't know how to choose a breed properly. Maybe she'll exercise the dog by throwing a tennis ball. Do you know how bad tennis balls are for dogs? Many dogs die because the ball gets slimy and the dog chokes on it. Other times the dog bites through the ball and chokes on the fragments. Did you know that the tennis balls nylon fuzz abrades the dogs tooth enamel? Moreover, do you know how deadly that automotive antifreeze in the driveway is to your pet? Sorry to go off on a rant but the fact remains. We are primarily an emotion driven culture that doesn't give much thought to exactly what the heck we're doing most of the time and many other things suffer due to our ignorance. Wow, what the heck does this have to do with black cars? :D

Not to get off topic, but I have a german shephard and have always given her tennis balls. Now, I will stop. What would be a better ball for her to go around chasing:?

I totally agree about this nation being too emotionally driven. And, yeah, these dogs are a good example. It really bothers me when people get dogs for the wrong reason, try to make them 'little humans', and don't keep their best interests at heart. Good tip on the tennis balls. I'll keep that in mind for when I get a dog.

give Bella that squeaky toy my bro!! hahah :wavey

Buy a ball made of hard rubber specifically designed for dogs. Be careful if you have a large dog that loves to chew all the time. They will chew right through many types of rubber. In fact, did you know that the black colored "Kong" toy is much harder than the red one? I learned the hard way after my dog swallowed a piece of a red Kong and it got lodged in his intestine. That was an expensive lesson racing up to Tufts Medical Center at 3am. Buy the black one.

Your problems are exactly why I will never own a black car again. You have to live with 90% perfect because trying to keep the car at 100% will drive you nuts.

so to remove some haze that seems to still be there, i would do some RMG and then CMW again? I would probably apply it by hand?

Looks like it's time for some RMG topped with carnauba. That will help make black look near perfect even in full sun. Ask me how I know.

Patrick

Would you even bother with Vanilla moose wax if i am already using Menzerna IP and FPII to remove spider web imperfections?

No, polish as best you can with your Menzerna then use RMG as a glaze. The RMG will fill those stubborn light catching swirl marks that appear in full sun. I didn't care for the yellow moose wax at all. I went straight from RMG to carnauba's like Souveran or Natty's. This will be as close to perfection as you are likely to achieve. I returned my yellow moose wax to Clearkote.

I agree that owning a black car is more than just a hobby but, a near perfect finish on a daily driver is what i have most of the time do to weather and no garage. The question is how much imperfection can you live with?

The reason people like black cars is simply because they look dam good. I was at the italian fest in winterpark last weekend and i saw a black Lamborghini Countach that just the sight of gave me goose bumps. Upon Closer inspection it had the typical light swirls 99.9% of black cars have. That being said, it still was absolutely stunning. Black cars are much more masculine than red or yellow and i also think that is why people tend to gravitate towards them. I have all white cars simply because they are all daily drivers. But when i get my porsche, i am sure it will be black.

Did someone say black cars. That is all I deal with. They look great for about five minutes. But just sitting outside gets them dirty. I have the pleasure of dealing with three cars out of thirty that are not black. :faint:

You detail all those cars on a regular basis???!!!

OR: you OWN all those cars??!!!! :shocked

I hope that garage is bomb proof as such a place should exist forever. and stock a good 1000 gallons of fuel so when people in the year 2358 stumble across this shrine they can still fire 'em up and take a spin!

I just take car of them. Spend sixty hours a week in there. But this is just the bottom floor. There is a top floor.

I justy got a new car (BLACK) and with the 10year old paint and the trashing it has gone Plus my knee problem 100% is never going to be achived this year. (plus i have no garage) But when i was cleaning her up this moring the guy next to me with a black matalic VW was walking in side and looked at my hood... and just said WOW.......

yep there are swirls but only i see them really..
