Black car + Swirls = I'm about to give up.....

First post here, surely someone can help me, as I'm about at my wits end. Working on a 71' Mustang which I painted with Black Dupont ChromaOne SS. Car has been painted about 8 months. I've been using the Presta line of compounds, pads, polishes, etc. I've buffed and polished this car 4 times already and it still looks terrible. I've wet sanded the car 1000, 1500, 2000 and followed up with Presta's Cutting Cream Light with a yellow wool pad on a rotary. This obviously gives me swirls so then I follow with Presta Swirl Remover and a matching blue foam pad with a PC. Swirls are reduced, but still way too many. I've even tried the Presta Chroma 1500 in between the CCL and SR making it a three step process and nothing changes. I'm almost afraid to go over the car much more and am giving up on Presta. It's all about to go in the trash. I'm really trying to finish the car this week, but don't know where to go from here. Any help would be great, I'm willing to try anything short of a repaint.
 
Welcome to Autopia - you are skipping a couple of steps - AFTER WOOL, USE A CUTTING/LIGHT CUTTING FOAM PAD. After this I'd do a polishing step and see if the pc can finish for you with a blue pad

Naturally I'd suggest to get some HD UNO and HD POLISH from this site, but see if you can make those products you have, work. I have never used presta.
 
Located in North Carolina. I've thought about changing polishes. The Presta compounds seem to take out the sand scratches well enough, but that's it. I've got all new pads and micro fiber towels. There are some deeper scratches in the paint, not sure how they got there, probably because the car had sit so long and collected dust, etc. Anyways you can't really see those unless your face is almost on the car. I've thought about trying Meguiar's since they are easily available locally, but not sure which ones I need.
 
You are making several mistakes, the biggest is attempting to tackle the car without a working plan. No wonder you are frustrated. 1x1 foot test area is imperative on any car. UNO and Polish/Speed are great choices, if you can get Ultimate Compoud/105 and Ultimate Polish/205, you should be good to go. I'd start with 105 on a polishing pad, then assess from there.
 
Yeah, I'm now working a spot on the fender as a test area until I see the result I want. Assuming I go with the UNO line, what exactly do I need? I see on their site they offer a few types of material. I've never heard of UNO before, but I'm willing to try anything at this point.

You will have a hard time going from a rotary and a wool pad to a PC. Need a polishing step with the rotary and a foam polishing pad, then 3M Ultrafina using a blue Ultrafina pad if you just want to go all rotary.
 
Talk to Kevin or take Scott's advice, but talk to Kevin anyways, free advice from a master is a good thing.
