You *can* make a black car look great. After caring side by side for a black car and a "ferrari" red car, I'd go with the red, hands down... especially for the wife.
While I love the look of the black after it's been detailed, it only looks good until the next rain or drive through a puddle. After that, it's a spotted mess. Wives don't seem tp execute the driving care needed for a black car, IMHO.
I would only buy another black car if I lived somewhere mostly dry. Red looks as good, and doesn't need half as much care.
