Black Bentley Flying Spur

This car was in dire need of a good polishing. Obviously some hack detailer got a hold of the car in the past and left buffer trails on every single panel, so it was my job to get rid of them for good. The front was covered in bugs which began to etch into the paint, but luckily I was able to compound out the defects.

The paint is absolutely incredible on this car. Probably the nicest paint I have ever worked on. It had absolutely no orange peel whatsoever and the paint is just so deep.

I decided to go the Zaino route on this car because the owner wanted something that would last for quite a while.

My Process :

Washed exterior, cleaned wheels and tires

Clay bar treatment

Rewashed

Buffed complete exterior with SIP X 2 using a medium cut foam pad

Buffed complete exterior with 106ff/FP II mixture X 2 using a foam finishing pad

IPA wipedown

Hand application of ZAIO

Hand application of Z5 Pro

Hand application of Z2 Pro

Z8 Wipedown

Wheels were treated with ZAIO and Zaino CS

Exterior glass received ZAIO

Super Blue dressing on tires and wheel wells

Here are the before pictures...

It was the end of the day when I took the after pictures, so I was unable to take any good full sun shots.

Those cars are just incredible. Zero orange peel, top notch materials on every interior surface and a V12 under the hood. Your work certainly does it justice. :)

I see you used SIP and 106 on this car, Rick... Did the SIP play well? Did you cut the 106 with FPII because the 106 was being finicky on the soft paint?

Sorry for all the questions, but Greg Nichols and I are doing a Bentley on Monday, so I'm trying to get an idea if my favorite Menz's are gonna work.

As I was reading this post of yours rick I was going to ask the same questions!

The Bentley Conti GT is about in the same condition also. Any pointers anyone can give will only save us time. We want to make the customers heart skip a beat, and allow us to do his collection of really cool cars.

Cheers,

GREG

Superbee & Greg- Bentley paint is actually a pleasure to work with. They correct fairly easy because they have softer paint, but don't seem to act up as much as other cars with softer paints do. SIP should be all you need to cut through all of the defects. If needed, you could step it up to a PFW pad for the more serious defects and follow behind with SIP on a foam pad to make sure that any possible wool pad abrasions are removed. I always try to get the paint at least 90% perfect with SIP, reallly working it in for a significant amount of time at slower speeds.

106ff or 85rd will work just fine to remove any slight haze left from the SIP. On this particular detail, I added just a touch of FP II for a little longer working time and less dusting, but it is not necessary.

Good luck on the detail and be sure to post up lots of pics!
