The purpose of the solvent wipe down after the claying process is to remove any oils, wax or silicone that may be embedded in the paint which can interfere with the polishing process. I prefer to have a perfectly clean surface, free of any silicones, etc. before starting to ensure the polishing goes as smooth as possible. This 5 minute step can save you hours of time .
