Black (and a test) observations

I did my new black GM truck with a DG 501/105 to the entire truck . It looked nice . Well after a few weeks i could not leave well enough alone ( as you guys know how hard that is ...) so I split my hood into 3rds to do a little self comparison .

One section I just topped the 501/105 combo with 845 1x . The second section I put another coat of DG 105 and the 3rd section I tried a sample of OCW 2x.

Its been very hot !!!! and my truck sits outside 24/7 . I have only washed it with ONR , so no heavy detergents or anything. I was caught in a rain storm and today was HOT AGAIN (it's been near 100 and humid for a few weeks) but wanted to clean it up so I ONR washed again.

The results that I saw but looking at reflection , depth and shine kinda surprised me. The best was with the 845 , the 2nd was with the OCW and close 3rd with the DG products. Both the OCW and the DG looked a little dingy , but the 845 looked quite a bit better than the other 2.

I am sure the drop off of the other 2 is strictly from the heat it has had to endure .

Still searching for the ultimate combo of extreme durability , shine and depth on black.

Just wanted to share my observations .

845 has a very bright look to me, probably has something to do with your observations of the other two looking dingy. You also might want to give 476 a try too, has better depth IMO than 845.

Yes I would agree I usually use it on whites and silvers ect... but this looked deeper than the others did too.

DG 105 is a favorite of mine, but you have to consider that the 845 might look better because it may be more slick. I LOVE the look of DG 105, but it's really not slick at all IMO. Water on the car does not run off going down the road like others may. I know my Fiancee's car has 3 coats of 105 on it and I just applied Blackfire wet diamond to my Z (both cars are white) I like the 105 look better, but it's better to not leave spots all over the car for me and to have some slickness.

Also, you should try 2 coats of collinite 915 on an area... it's been one of the most durable waxes i've ever seen.
