Black 95 Benz SL Correction

Merlin

A Miracle Detailing
Just a little thing...18 hours

I just did this 95 Benz SL on Friday 5/4/12

It was COVERED in swirls and tons of holograms!!!
The detailer that did it before was a complete hack!

This is a zoom on the exact same above picture.

When he saw it, to say he was ecstatic would be a severe understatement.

Yes, this car is his baby. Finished results PRICELESS!

I see a black Benz in my detailing future. Could you share a bit of info on the polish/technique you used?

Looks great BTW :bigups

The hood and the trunk were the worst problem areas and the owners major concerns.
Sadly, it was so bad that normal "less aggressive" techniques didn't even make a dent.

I lightly used a FLEX PE14 Rotary and Megs M105 with a 7" wool pad to level the swirls.
Although now swirl free the holograms were still there and a few tiny chips were visible.
I went back over the areas with a PC 7424xp with a 5.5" Lake Country white and M205.

I probably should have used an orange pad with M105 to clean up after doing the wool.
However, the PCxp DA, LC flat white & M205 cleaned it up very nice and hologram free.
I followed that with FLEX PE14, LC 6.5" black CCS & Menzerna PO85 for additional gloss.

TIP:
I found it VERY important to make sure all pads are cleaned after polishing each section!

I followed that with three coats of Wet Glaze 2.0 to aid in filling RIDS & add further gloss.
I probably could have used BLACKFIRE Gloss Enhancing Polish but it wasn't all that handy.
Then for LSP (You guessed it) two coats Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection.
In this case I didn't follow it with Midnight Sun. I wanted that "BFWD gloss" for the owner.

I really didn't spend much time on the interior. He wasn't interested in getting that done.
A good vacuum, clean and dress the dash and doors, clean the windows inside & out etc.
I did spend an extra few minutes dressing the engine but really did not do it extensively.

All in all when he saw it he was "completely blown away" by the finish, clarity and gloss.
