I'm sorry but I couldn't find the off topic subforum!
Didn't realise there were so many aspects of detailing:shifty:

I've read some reviews of both this site and Autopia.org, I must say that I find the reviews very intresting. :detective

User Reviews for detailcity.com

1 of 5 stars Horrible site,

This site is a frat club for guys who are insecure about there existance. They fratenize with one another and talk smack about everyone else. The webmaster bans people if they say anything bad about detail city and then picks on them after they can't defend them selfs on the board. A home for back stabbing two face low lifes from around the world.

5 of 5 stars Detailing vehicles,
This site has it all. If you interested in Detailing and buying products for detailing this is where to go..

User Review for autopia.com

1 of 5 starsAutopia sold out,
I agree with the others who say Autopia is a sell out. The sight is just a big phony run by money hungary people. I stop visiting along time ago.

2 of 5 starsI used to like this site,
Long ago Autopia used to be a great Web site but lately it become a spring board for advertisers to get people to use there products. Companies that were ripped for being snake oil like 5 star shine are now featured advertisers and no one talks about how bad the products are like they used to and the saddest thing is that autopia.org owener David said he would never sellout but I guess money talks. I stopped visiting this site a few months ago and checked in today to see what it was like and things look more worse than before. The Web site is a big commercial for manufacturers now wich is to sad.

5 of 5 starsDetailling Heaven!,

Autopia is loaded with info regarding automotive detailing. From techniques to products, everything is given an objective standpoint...if there is a new product on the market, you can be sure it will fall into the hands of fellow Autopians to give their honest feedback. Everyone is extremely friendly and willing to go the extra mile to help out one another. This is a top notch detailing forum for automotive enthusiasts -- the name really does speak for itself!

5 of 5 starsAutopia is the best,
I have been a member of Autopia for quite awhile now and I have to say that it is the best board on the web. It is active and friendly. Members don't flame each other and product wars just don't happen. It always has the most objective reviews of products that are used in the industry. If you are looking for objective information about detailing presented in a friendly way then Autopia is the place to be. I don't know of another board on the internet that is as friendly as Autopia. Its a pleasure to be a part of Autopia.

5 of 5 starsDetailing Car/Truck?SUV Nuts,

Everything you ever wanted to know about making and keeping your vehicle's appearances in "show car" condition. Extremely friendly environment with knowledgeable members ( professionals and hobbists) willing to discuss, teach, exchange ideas and just plain talk about auto detailing. This is not a sponsor driven or biased forum but a worldwide discussion group about detailing. This site is a must for anyone that is a detailing nut!!

I've been up since 1 in the morning,it's now close to 5:30pm and I'm tired so can you PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE HECK YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT? Thank you!

I find it strang that both get extremly positive and negative reactions.

Other sites I visit get nothing but raving comments it's the first time I catch such different views on the same website.

Why is that strange? I think almost every aspect of life in general has people that like it, love, hate it, etc. I can think of almost no web site, product, television show, music genre, car, or detailing product that everyone absolutely love or hates. I don't see anything strange about that at all. It's just the difference in people's opinon, and we all know everyone has two of.... :)

Being one of the insecure members of the frat club on that horrible site, I really feel the need to talk some smack about the writer of that review. I might even resort to a back stabbing while I'm at it.

Your low life from Ankeny,
Charles

Don't get too caught up in what is posted on the internet. Lots of people that don't seem to be happy in their own lives seem to feel they need to drag others down to their level. Just ignore them.

I'm pretty sure that DavidB, the owner of Autopia and Dwayne, the owner of Detail City could really care less about a couple of disgruntled members that want to post bad reviews of there websites. I think the fact that Autopia and Detail City have thousands of members but only a handful of whiners says that the bad reviewers are certainly in the minority and probably hang out at some rinky dink club or gang full of opinionated wannabes that think they know everything about detailing but in all reality don't have a clue how to detail a car.

I used to be so full of myself that I thought my opinion was worth more than someone elses but then I woke up, smelled the coffee, got off of my high horse and went out and got a life.

All I can say is that I was a moderator on Autopia back when it was in it's prime and it isn't the same place anymore. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot of really great information from them, but back then they were the only detailing board out there. There are a lot more choices of where to go to talk shop with other professionals and enthusiasts these days. I think Autopia is a great site and is an asset to the detailing community just like Detail City is. However, it is a little known fact that we largely judge the intelligence of others by how closely their opinions reflect your own. Once my opinions stop being respected on a message board then I move to another one. After all, it's just the freakin internet. It isn't even real life.

My experience is that the only people that flame one board or the other are the ones who have been banned. I still have morons that I banned years ago on Autopia following me around trying to get under my skin. Losers who have nothing better to do than flame a board they got banned from probably don't bother people like David and Dwayne. I know them both well enough to say that much at least.

Those people who hate DC, I bet they still use 'detailcity' discount code when they shop online with DC's sponsors

 I noticed that. I have something for all you who badmouth DC everywhere else and yet you still come back to put your name in the hat for free stuff. Here ya go: :nutkick

I think some people just take this whole internet thing way too seriously. Let's put it into perspective: Forums are free, open to anyone with an internet connection, and should be used as a resource. They are not the place to boast, argue, and get mad at somebody you don't even know. This is not the presidential debates. Why abuse the privilege we have to use these forums? Ultimately, it's all about the community aspect and learning. Unfortunately, there are always your "bad apples" who #1: Are too immature to realize this is just the internet and/or #2: Can't find an outlet to express anger about something. I feel sorry some people have to be like that.

With that said, let's enjoy the great forums like DC and Autopia and respect our privilege!
