Billet wheel care

Hi guys, new to the forum and after searching I can't seem to find the answers to my problem. I have a set of 20" billet wheels on my truck and they just will not hold a shine, seems i've developed a $20/mo mothers polish habit. I've tryed waxing the wheels after polish and it helps but nothing spactacular. I'm sure my big brakes don't help the situation either.

If technique matters here I do it all by hand with mothers billet polish. Haven't had the guts to put any power tools near my wheels just yet.



btw, please forgive the dirty wheel wells, it has been raining for a couple days out here.

The fault with your process is that you aren't adding any protection after polishing. I'm sure the Mother's polish does have some protection, just not enough. My suggestion, polish with your usual preferred routine (a Mother's Power Ball will speed this up tremendously), and then clean up with Klasse AIO and seal with Klasse SG. Pretty much any sealant will work just as long as you use it on a semi-regular basis.



A product that has just been recommended to me for my chrome wheels, which is supposed to be good for almost any metal, is S100 Polishing Soap. Check it out:

It's supposed to great for maintenance washes, reduces polishing. Like I said, it has been recommended, and I am waiting for mine to come in so I don't have first hand experience with it yet.

I use the Mother's Poweball and Meguiar's NXT Metal Polysh for bringing the wheels to a nice shine.



Recently, I've used the Michelin Brake Dust Repellent on the inside and Collinite Insulator Wax on the outer portion of the wheel. This combo seems to help keep the wheel looking good for quite a while (2 months depending upon driving/weather).



Billet does require a routine maintenance, but the above lengthens the time frame.
