Billet Aluminum- Scratches

I have several Billet Aluminum pieces in my Engine Compartment. There are fine scratches on all the pieces. What can In do to get rid of these scratches? I have tried polishing, The Aluminum shines, but the scratches are still there.

You can start with some aggressive metal polish (Simi-Chrome or Wenol Red) and work at right angles to the scratches. Better, if they are available for a cotton buffing wheel (either a drill attachment or a Dremel tool for small areas), use a buffing wheel at right angles to the scratches with the aggressive polish.

Follow this with Mother's Billet or the new Meguiar's NXT Metal polish. Check your progress frequently.

I typically finish my polished billet with a buffing wheel that is "loose" cotton instead of spiral sewn.

Try using blue nitrile goves or a mf towel as the applicator. Often times the applicator is the thing doing the scratching. With the nitrile gloves just dip your finger into the polish and rub with the glove. It really works great. Don't use normal latex goves they will fall apart in less than a minute. As far as pressure goes light to moderate in the beginning then easy up a bit and work the black residue a bit. Wipe off before it dries.
