Big Lots does it again!

I usually pop into Big Lots every coupla weeks as there's no telling what I'll find. I happened on these Sentry Bulletz in ear phones last night for six bucks and bought a pair not expecting to be surprised.

Got them home and plugged into my Marantz CD player and UGH! Bloated bass and just generally unfocused sound...horrible! Went ahead and broke them in w/ Yes' Siberian Khatru (my go to song for analyzing systems - I love Chris Squire's bass runs) for 12 hours. Tried them again this morning and was about to throw them away, then I tried plugging the ports w/ my fingers... and they were greatly improved. Found the hole punchers in the office and punched out some 3M single sided sticky foam my wife uses for crafts that fit perfectly over the ports.

These things now sound acceptable (tight defined bass, the sound is rich and full w/ reasonable definition; albeit they are weighted towards the high end but can be tamed w/ equalization.) Are these as good as my Shure's? No, but the chord is heavy, cool looking metal construction and for the price (went back and bought the five left on the shelf - I tend to give away things at this price point) they can't be beat. Lose or misplace a pair? No prob.

Big Lots also has twin 1000 watt halogen worklights with stands for $20, orginal California Car Dusters (wood handles!) for $7.98 and the Dupont Teflon tire dressing (which is actually pretty good) for $3 each.
