BF SRC Compound & Finishing Polish vs. M105/205

Anyone know about any water softners that are safe to use in water on your car? Ron, got any comments? My water is really hard, and I'd love to find a way to soften it up a bit if that is possible, without a machine. I'm wondering if there is a chemical that will do it.

Good idea... but doesn't vinegar strip the wax?

DaveB also said that soft water was bad for the car, or am I not hearing that right?

Wonder if that stuff works? Don't see an order button. I'm going to call them tomorrow and find out more about it.

Sounds like waterspots are a way of life, even for the mobile detailer.

Softened water is not necessarily bad for you car, but it isnt much better than hard water!



Hard water contains a lot of calcium. By running hard water though a water softener, you exchange the calcium for sodium. Basically, soft water will not prevent water spots. Only distilled water will.
 
Does anyone have any experience with the BF SRC Compound and Finishing Polish? I am curious about how it compares to M105/205. What would be the main differences and advantages of one over the other?
 
M105/205... yea, just dont mess with perfection, lol.

Havent tried the BF polishes so I wont pass judgment but I will blatantly assume M105 is a superior compound because I have been using it for a couple years and love it. And as for 205, with the exception of very soft paints works extremely well (and quickly) with a DA machine for polishing or finishing.

I know that 105/205 is a great combo, as I have used it with great success. I was just curious about the BF products.

Well what are you looking for in a compound and polish that 105/205 is not giving you? If you want a finer, more workable finishing polish than Menzerna 85rd is the way to go and 205 can be dedicated for pure polishing work.

I am not looking for anything more then the 105/205 combo. As I said, I was curious about the BF products, because I use many of their other products and I think they are all great. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them.

Gotcha Barry. Have you tired the spray sealant? Every 2 or 3 washes my car gets a quick coat of that, very nice product.

I have, and I love it. As a matter of fact, I am almost out and might have to place an order for some more soon.
