BF protectant is a paint cleaner also??

I BF the wife's X5 a couple weeks ago came out great. It is a daily driver which is parked outside. Washed over the weekend and decided to put another layer of BF protectant on hood. Did it by hand using a terry applicator, the applicator looked like I used a cleaner or polish fair amount of dirt on the applicator. No complaints about BF but is there a difference between the polish and the protectant other than color?

No answer as to the blackfire, but could it have been tree sap on the applicator. I was using my PC on my car one day right after I washed it, and the pad became black (ruined) due to tree sap falling onto the paint. I am also on LI and I know the sap has been retarded so far this Spring.

The polish polishes and the protectant protects. I think that pretty much covers it.... :nixweiss

They also have the EXACT same pH as tested by another member a while back. I think it was pretty high, like 8.9 or 9.8 something along those lines....that's pretty harsh for a protectant IMO...

It really wouldn't surprise me though. There have been several companies who have increased sales by marketing the same product with different labels. I mean, hey, if we can convince you that you need TWO products instead of ONE, that's better for the bottom line isn't it?? Happens a lot, and not just in this industry either....

My $.02...

Thanks Mike, for the info. Do you know of a particular product [line] that's just repackaged and sold for a higher price?

As with BF, I believe that CMA is a very well respected vendor and sponser of this forum. I would trust their expertise in their products and believe they wouldn't just repackage the two products for more business...
