Best weed eater/string trimmer

I haven`t messed with a bump head since I was 15 but I have horrible flashbacks when I see one. I`ve fought those things...

Meanwhile my *old* Stihl bump-head continues to work great despite decades of really awful treatment :D Maybe they built `em better back in the day.

thread is a little old but since it got bumped. I`ll give an update.

stihl I picked up has been perfect since I`ve purchased it. probably used it 6 or 7 times by now. starts up easy. very nice power. had a solid week of rain and had to trim through some tall weeds and it was smooth as butter.

Happy to hear it, Donbeezy! :)

I had the guy put a fixed head trimmer on it (I believe it was a echo head), best decision ever. simply slide the line in and it locks in place. once your ready to replace the line, keep pushing the line through and pull out at the other end

Sounds like a nice solution for your needs. The only problem I`ve ever had with bump heads is wearing the bump head cover piece out under normal use. Must have gone through 3 covers with my last Husqvarna trimmer. Other then that, I haven`t had issues. Whenever I do need to reload the string, I always make sure to clean out debris from the bump head.
