<strong class='bbc'>SMR on a wool pad?? Obviously I don't know everything about wool pads, but that doesn't seem right to use a wool pad with SMR because the wool pad should be used for leveling, therefore there needs to be some good abrasives. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Would he be using FI-II?? [/b]</blockquote>
:D I was just gueesing..but I don't see any problem using SMR with wool pad..since the SMR already contain a little abrasive, and the wool pad itself has a lot of abrasive capability (I still not confident enough to use it)...

it looked like an SMR...from the color of the bottle's label ;)

When David squirted the stuff on the pad, it definitely looked like 3M SMR for dark cars. Plus, like Langit said, the yellow color of the labels on the bottle looked like SMR. FI-II is white.

But the photos that intermezzo'd between segments kinda threw me off. Hehe

My only question is, he seemed to use a LOT more product than I thought was necessary. The majority of the people that have helped me with the PC use only a quarter-size dab for polishing that amount of surface.

When using a wool pad you need to use more product to keep the pad "wetter" so it does not burn the surface. A dry wool pad can burn quickly.

why can't i download the video?

i seem to get pages of type, numbers, symbols, etc....

is there a secret? i clicked the link and that's all i get.

Showroom, thanks for the info. Makes perfect sense.

RoadK, did you 'right-click' the link and choose 'save target as'?

I DL'd it yesterday using my T-1 line here at work.

I have a job coming up on a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The customer wants me to wash and do a one step polish.

Since the weather here in NJ is getting very cold, I plan on doing an ONR wash before claying and polishing. Since I will not be using Dawn or a Citrus Cleaner like CG CWC, can I just do the ONR, clay and then an IPA wipe down? Will that do a good enough job of striping the lsp?

When you say you will be doing a one-step polish, precisely what product are you intending to use? If, e.g., you are planning to use an AIO cleaner wax, then that would eliminate any special steps to remove the existing LSP.

I will be using Poorboys PwS. So I guess that should do the trick?

Clay will strip some but IPA will do the best job. Just use a higher dilution, 80/20 perhaps and perform multiple wipedowns, you should be to to rock and roll :cornut::rockon:

Awesome. I will do a few wipe downs before I start polishing. I'll make sure to post pics of the job.
Thanks Dave

I like to use power clean on each panel just before I ONR it as a presoak if I'm going to polish or apply a fresh coat of wax. It works very well and ads NO time. I don't like IPA because stuff can re deposit.
