Best wax/sealant Silver BMW 550i

Hello all. I have a 2006 Silver BMW 550i. I was curious about the best wax/sealant combination.

My kids are very busy, so not much time to spend detailing car but will make what time I need.

I have poked around the site some and these are some options I have come up with:

Klasse AIO and high gloss sealant glaze

Klasse AIO and SG with outer coat of sovereign

any zaino combination

I am particularly interested in Klasse vs Zaino. Any help in advance would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

My kids keep me busy as well, along with wife and my golf game, so great shine and durability are crucial to me. Thats why Ive been using Zaino for about a year, and I like it alot. Most who try it like it.

Klasse twins don't have the clarity of more modern sealants but on silver it doesn't matter.

The twins will give you a nice deep wet look that is real nice also order some Sonus Acrylic Spr9tz QD spray.

Another option top Klasse All in one with Meguiars 21 sealant nice combo and easy.

The absolute best protection you can get will be from a good carnauba wax. Natty's blue, Souveran, Chemical Guys 5050, Victoria Wax or Zymol are some good ones to try. Sealants will last longer but they will not protect against water spots, bird bombs, tree sap and bug splatter as well as wax will. Carnauba waxs will also add a deep wet look to your paint. I use carnauba wax on top of a sealant to improve durability, even though it seems to take away from the looks of the wax somewhat. Of course that is just my opinion and others on here may feel differently.:lol

bithead: Congrat's on a beautiful car. I detail 2 late model BMW's per week for a reseller here in Kansas City and found a good combo for silver is:

Klasse AIO

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant

They give good protection and enhance the Silver.

Here's a couple of shots of some Silver Bimmers

Here's a Silver Gray that came out great: Wet sanded with 3000 grit + compound + glaze + Meguiars #26.

Being new, you won't need to go through a lot of steps, but I'd recommend a clay bar to remove surface contaminants, then polish with AIO followed by Wolfgang.

I've actually found several combos that work well on silver....

Meguiar's #80>(2) Coats of Meguiar's NXT Liquid....

(This is my brother's truck. Sorry about all the pics....I was proud of this one!)

Klasse AIO topped with Collinite 845. Easy, inexpensive, Collinite can be found locally, and should last 4-6 months in less than ideal conditions. I have found this combo really warms up the relatively sterile BMW silver.

IMO your initital layout of time will be close with most products.

First do the "sandwitch bag" test to see if you need to clay. On your clean paint, place your fingers inside the bag and rub it on a small section of the paint on a horz surface. If the paint is not smooth and you can feel small bumps, you should clay.

Then I would do 2-3x of Z2pro followed up with Z8.

When you wash after that you can do Z8 one to two times a month. At minimum this should give you 6 months.

Personally, I like RejeX.

But the key to long lasting incredible shine is not what your using but how you prepare the surface before sealing.

Suggest wash, claybar, paint cleaner and then use a good sealant.

On my silver Nissan Maxima, I spent a good 8-10 hours one weekend with the PC and compounds, paint cleaners, polishs, swirl removers and sealants due to its condition when I bought it and 8 months later it's still shining but not quite as slick as it used to be when I first layered it up. The beeding is almost gone. I have not waxed it all this time to purposely see how long it would all last.

845 is hot on any color!

I'm liking my 915 as well.

I personally like "Proper prep" by "Make Sure to Clay" followed by "They all look good if it's prepped right". :)

Seriously though, if you're a busy guy just go with wash, clay, Z2pro, Z8, and call it a day.

For simplicity, ease of use, and good durability I've been a long time user of Klasse AIO and fourstar UPP. UPP looks great on lighter colors like silver, it's easy to use/remove and leaves the paint nice and slick.

I just recently tried Optimum Poli-Seal and it works great. I like that it's a polish and seal in one. Klasse is a cleaner and sealer in one but I don't feel that it really polishes much and doesn't give much of a shine. More just a prep for a second stage like sealer or wax.

Poli seal seems to leave a nice shine, you probably wouldn't need a wax over top. I haven't tested durability but it's supposed to last a couple months.

Poli seal is easy as pie, especially with an orbital. You polish it in till it "disappears" per the instructions. Really easy to buff off.
