Best wax or sealant for dark vehicles?

Well that is good to know, no use of speding that mcuh on Supernatural if the look is going to drop after the first wash. Have you had mcuh experience with Blackfire Wet Diamond and Midnight Sun? Does the Midnight Sun do much giving a noticeable improvement in looks? Does it drastically reduce the durability of BFWD?

Blackfire Wet Diamond topped with Blackfire Midnight Sun?

Wolfgang Fusion?

Pinnacle Souveran?

Dodo Juice Supernatural Wax? $130 for 200 ml. though.:eek1:

I have not tried Supernatural but have tried the other three. Souveran has a subtle, special warmth; but it doesn't last very long at all. I honestly don't think you'll be able to tell the difference between Wet Diamond and Fuzion. I also don't think you'll be able to see a difference between two coats of Wet Diamond and Wet Diamond + Midnight Sun. I'd go with Blackfire Wet Diamond. Save your bucks.

I have spent hundreds of dollars on LSPs in search of that special look. If you have cleaned and polished the paint, they will all make your car look good. There is no holy grail.

...No suggestions for Zaino please, or the higer end Zymol stuff:) since I want to keep it under $100. Any suggestions?

Since you dont want Zaino....

Clearkote carnuaba moose wax

Optimum Car Wax

Meguairs #26 paste wax

Finish Kare Pink Wax

Mothers California Gold Wax (not the cleaner wax, the straight version)

All of these excluding the Mothers will give a nice look to the paint and will last thru a few washes without the need to refresh as often. At least, this has been my expireince anyway.

I've only used BFWD, not Midnight Sun. It too loses its magic after the first wash. I'd like to clarify the whole issue. If it doesn't look as good after the first wash as it did when it was just waxed, IMO, it's lost its magic. BFWD falls in that group too. Lots of waxes continue to look great, they just don't look the same after a wash, except the ones mentioned above. BFWD is awesome stuff, but if you are expecting it to keep looking like day 1, you are going to be disappointed.

What kind of durability have you personally seen with 5050?

Redline, in all seriousness, does "durability" really matter in this conversation. You say the car is rarely driven and I'm sure it never sees inclement weather. Maybe you'll find the CG 5050 product lasts 6 months for you and starts to fade away following the 5th or 6th wash with a very gentle soap AKA Meg's #00 ;) That had been my experience on my non-daily driver when I used the CG wax, which is an outstanding recommendation for your specific situation. That's a really nice product given the price point. And I'm a big fan of carnauba-type products on infrequently used cars.

Not in my experience.. this stuff looks great.... maybe if one uses the wrong soaps or wrong washing techniques

Opti-Coat with a detail spray of your choice for a drying aid each wash.

That Wet Glaze 2.0 + a wax is the wettest look I've been able to achieve. I put Wet Glaze 2.0 over my Opti-Coat. I hit it with a second layer of Wet Glaze 2.0 on one section, 3M Show Car Paste Wax which is known for being wet on another, Adam's Americana on another, and Victoria Concours Red on another. I'm having a hard time telling which I like best because anything over Wet Glaze 2.0 looks great, imo.

Klasse all in one > Klasse sealant or collinite 845. I do both on my daily driver, with proper cure time 845's solvents should have no effect on the sealant. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not saying it disappears, only saying it doesn't look and feel like it did after application. If yours stays just as slick as after you applied it, I wanna know how you are washing.

Ah yes the endless debate on the LSP of choice. One question, do you own a polisher? (DA or Rotary) My personal opinion on this matter that nobody has mentioned so far would be machine polishing. Depending on the current condition of your vehicle is how much you would have to do. Ive found that with the proper machine polishing most LSP only add a small fraction to the over all look. Scene you seem to have quite a bit of waxes and sealants already i feel you'll never be satisfied with any so my choice would be machine polishing/jeweling and then pick an LSP you already have.

use zaino wash sometimes optimumwash with little no pressure microfiber mitt 1 panel at a time rinse immediately, leaf blow dry, and wipe down with zaino qd or optimum qd.. btw it's black 350z roadster and swirl free

So if you wipe down with zaino or optimum qd post wash, you say it still looks and feels just like BFWD after application?

If you want to take that approach, if I wash and spray it down with the Blackfire QD, yes it looks great and is still super slick, however that's not what I stated.

Point blank, post wash (no QD or other games) it does not feel or look like it did directly after application.

then that is the incorrect way to wash a car.. must use a quick detail when drying

Lol. This is the funniest thing I have read here since joining. Sorry I don't have any cars with taffy soft paint. I don't need to QD when drying. You are either delusional or trolling.

Redline,

If you're looking for a lsp that gives a wet glowing look with very good durability, IMO, than get the HD Nitro Seal kit!!!

I know this is a 3D forum so it might look like I'm being a Homer for them, but none of the products you listed even come close in the looks department.

Bfwd was a big letdown for me. It only looked good if you used the bf spray detailer after every wash. I loaned it out and never bothered asking for it back. I bought Souveran because of the promise of a wet look. It looked about the same as Supernatural but with much, much less durability. Although I do like Zaino on certain colors (silver, gray) it does have a plastic look to it. Not as much with Z5 as Z2 though.

Just be sure to do a very good wipe down before you apply it. I.e. ipa/water, Eraser or the like. I'd suggest multiple times. Give Nitro plenty of time to cure and with a car that is garaged most of the time you will get a good year or better in durability without any degrading in looks.

Mike
