Best wax or sealant for dark vehicles?

I am looking for a good wax or sealant that looks great on darker vehciles, and wanted to get some suggestions. I am out of the loop on the products that provide the best in looks, since before I was concerned with whatever was the most durable LSP out there.

The color of the vehicle is GM Victory Red, and the car sits in the garage at all times unless it is taken out and driven which has been about every three weeks only if the weather is nice. I don't want and LSP that will be completely dimished after a couple washes, and don't want something that will provide minimal protection either. Just looking for something that will make the red glow and really stand out. No suggestions for Zaino please, or the higer end Zymol stuff:) since I want to keep it under $100. Any suggestions?

CG50/50 will probably be your best bang for the $. Its drippy wet, has great gloss and is pretty durable. It looks awesome on Red.

Victoria Concours wax meets your requirements to a T. Spectacular looks on the darker colours and it has amazingly good lasting/staying power for a carnauba based product. It comes in 3, 6, and 12 oz. bottles.

Get the small one and try it.

x2 I think its one of the most underrated waxes about there, at any cost.

too bad Raceglaze 55 is higher than 100$ but you could also buy 3-4 samples pot and have enought to do 8 applications which last a solid 5 months!

or look for raceglaze 42. More exotic than Zymol if you ask me!

I really liked how Bilt Hamber Finis Wax made my red paint glow. It's GBP 29.95 (~$47) for a 250 ml (~8.5 oz) jar - you'll need to have it shipped from overseas though.

Surprised nobody mentioned Blackfire Wet Diamond it is my favorite LSP.

I like BFWD and its ease of use, but it sort of darkens the red IMO. I want to go for the glowing, dripping wet, bright red look

I have seen where Wolfgang Fuzion could be had for a good price at times, and there are smaller sizes that can be had for less than $100. Is this stuff any good at all? It seems to be regarded well for darker vehicles, but will at least provide a couple months of solid protection?

Any other suggestions?

I have Fuzion, its a pleasure to use, but I'm not sold on the looks. IMO it looks like if you took FK1000P and mixed it with Souveran. Its deep, and its glossy, but its not wet. I don't want to make it out to be a bad product, but its definitely a product of the AG hype machine. From your clarification of what you want, I really think you will be happy with CG50/50.

I like Fuzion very much. It's easy to apply and remove. Smells great. Great look. But I would never pay full retail for it. I bought my tub two years ago when it was on sale for half price and free refill. Given that I'll probably never need the free refill, I think I overpaid.

I used to have a tub of 50/50 but sold it when I realized that I had enough LSPs to last me several lifetimes. After reading Dan's strong commendations of it, I'm sorry I didn't give it a try. Oh well. I'm very happy with Victoria Concours Red, Swissvax Smaragd, Wolfgang Fuzion, and Blackfire Wet Diamond for my black car. But to be frank, I suspect I would be equally happy with Harly Wax, which gives a nice warm, balanced look. The differences between waxes are just too subtle for a pleb like me.

As already mentioned, I'd give one of the Victoria waxes a try. I've only used the Victoria Concours Red myself, but I've read good things about Chaos and Mayhem, too. We should be supporting small firms like Victoria.

P.S. P21S 100% would probably look good on your red car. I just happen to have a tub of the stuff if you're interested ...

How does the CG50/50 compare to Blackfire Wet Diamond in looks and durability? I currently have some BFWD, but I don't want to end up buying another product that is similar to one I already have. I have a lot of LSP lying around that didn't impress me over others as it is:lol:

What about Chemical Guys LAVA Luminous Glow Infusion Wax? It looks like another good offering for darker vehicles, but costs a little more than 5050 does

BFWD is great stuff but it just does not have the pop of CG50/50. BFWD is more durable though. I haven't found anything more deep and wet than 50/50. I've tried most stuff under $100 and a few of the more expensive Zymols. I have about 30 LSPs in my collection and I've tried three times that, 50/50 is my favorite. Add the fact that its pretty cheap, its a no brainer.

And I can't think of anyone that hasn't liked it. People have said there are better products, but nothing in the price range.

What kind of durability have you personally seen with 5050? When does the slickness and look start to fall off? Also, how many layers and with what kind of washing interval?

The magic look is gone after the first real wash or a few rains. Slickness is gone after a couple of washes. I only use a single layer as two don't seem to do much.

That doesn't really sound like it is for me then. I'd like the look to hang around for a little longer than that.

I have been eyeing a few other products, one more high end and the other not so. I know I wanted to keep it under $100, but if the admission cost is worth it, I may just buy in. I still want to maintain a glowing wet look that will stay for a while, maintain slickeness for a while, and give some protection for a couple months (nothing like 845 or FK1000p durability). Between these which of these, which should have the upper hand?

Blackfire Wet Diamond topped with Blackfire Midnight Sun?

Wolfgang Fusion?

Pinnacle Souveran?

Dodo Juice Supernatural Wax? $130 for 200 ml. though.:eek1:

Will the Supernatural have a real noticeable upperhand to make it worth the price?

Still open to suggestions:)

Of the ones you named, none keep their look longer than the first wash. Let me know when you find something that does and has a drippy wet look. The only products that actually maintain their look after a wash for me are Zaino and Opticoat.
