best wax for black?

what else have you tried? my buddy put Zaino on his camaro and honestly, i wasnt too impressed considering the amount of time and work it took. he loves it but at the same time he hasnt used anything else. more of a "use it because its got the Zaino name" kind of thing (seems to be kind of common with Zaino only users). there are a lot of products out there that give some great depth and gloss. i would give souveran a try. the liquid should last a few months.

Zaino is the only non OTC product I have tried...I'm not a Zaino fanboy by any

means, so maybe I will give the souveran a try, I've seen nothing but possitive

comments about it.

Zaino on black....Why?...I use Z-5 ,Z-2 and Z-6... and I sware...I dont see

how it is possible to make my Black 2010 camaro look any better? Maybe I

need to experiment more?

Zaino, esp Z-2 is super reflective, and while that looks great on silvers or other light colors, I think most people prefer the deep look on black. I don't have black, but its a pretty dark blue, and I like that deep look that just messes with your eyes, where you can't actually tell where the paint is. Zaino just sits on the surface of the paint for me.

Z5 is recomended for black paint. It will give more depth/shine than Z2

I think DaveKG and some of his buddies did a test. For price, looks, and durability... Collinite 915. It's a tiny bit finicky when you remove it, but well worth it. There's been reports of up to 6.5 months of durability.

For straight looks I know Pinnacle Souveran looks great but I've never used it. Swissvax Concorso also.

You have a very good recipe for your car and you will be hardpressed to find something that will top what you are using. I would stick with it, Im sure it looks great.

Yeah, I'm well aware of that, however he said he was using Z5, Z2 and then Z6. Even then, Z5 isn't what I'd use on black, its better than Z2, but IMO there are much better choices.

I know you asked for a wax, but consider PBBH, DWG, or RMG first, then wax.

I find the glazes add something beyond the wax-only job.

Vintage...I noticed a big increase in the gloss compared to Souveran on my black 350z. It was alot more finicky to use though.

That makes good sence, Zaino is very reflective and I can see were this would

be good for lighter colors...Learn something everyday.

There is also a big increase in price but, good to know that you can see a difference for that kind of money.

:D

I have owned black cars for the past 20yrs and have tried just about all of them. My favorite wax or sort of wax is Wolfgang Fuzion, it imparts the clarity of a sealent with the depth and liquidity of a glossy paste Carnuba.

Thought twice about it when I saw the price was $175 but lucked out and got a buy one get one on the 3oz size for $60.

Just did my winter wax with Collinite 476 and it is a damn good wax, but you can definately see where Fuzion is a $$$ boutique wax, much more elegant looking, it was applied in early May and is still going strong.

Sealents have always left a sterile look on black for me, so I have started using carnuba over the sealents, for added depth. Best sealent I have found for black cars is Blackfire, very nice and kind of warm looking.

The fact that Fuzion is a hard wax out of the jar, I used very little throughout the summer on both of my black vehicles. It may be expensive but it goes a long, long way.

Truly a no compromise wax in my book.

By the way I always remove fresh wax with a Zymol micro wipe, they are the best and will not strip away freshly applied wax like Microfiber clothes. You can also use a thick cotton terry towel.

Trust me microfiber strips off a lot of the fresh wax, I did detailed tests and proved it to myself. Just a suggestion... :werd:

Lazzman response. Just got Fuzion and did 2 coats each on three different cars. All had Zaino as the base. I am very interested in your comments about durability while getting Carnuba qualities. Seems slicker than Zaino and quicker to use. I also noticed Zaino Z-8 to finish over Fuzion adds more slickness and waiting to see how long that lasts.

Zaino will give you a hard candy shine. I perfer a deep warm glow from Swissvax Concorso. Nothing wrong with a hard shine. I had 9 coats of UPGP and boy was it shinny. I go back and forth between sealants like UPGP and Blackfire, but I alway's go back to a nuba.

Why do you say Z5 looks better than Z2?

Both are suppose to be used. Z5 being applied

1st. I've used it on my black cherry Grand Prix.

I haven't found anything that will beat it yet.

To the OP I say save your money on PInnacle.

I'm no hater of the product. I've owned it. But for the

price you pay, Nattys Blue & Red are as good.

If you look at them side by side, you won't see a difference

in either product. Also the Pinnacle can attract a lot of dust.

I didn't like that at all.

Just my .02.
