Best Shop Vac Value?

I just bought the Craftsman 12 gal. Wet-Dry Vac, 5 Peak hp yesterday and by the looks of it, it looks like a really promising vacuum. I will probably be using it this weekend and find out how good this thing will work. It was truly a decision between this vacuum and the Craftsman Clean N Carry® 4 gal. Wet-Dry Vac, 5.0 Peak hp.

It was just so difficult to decide which one was the one. :nixweiss

I had the same exact problem when I was there. They both looked promising. Actually, I was having such a difficult time, I was walking down the isle to purchase the big one and again passed the little one. I dropped the big one and picked up the little one w/o missing a step.... just kept walking. It was a tough decision! In the end I wanted a light and easily protable vac.

Rigid w/o caster wheels or the one with wheels?

There's was fella here bought the one with-out wheels. Then he bought like 4 caster wheels and mount them out. ..Dang, I forgot who was. :(

Yeah, my wet/dry vacuum will be staying at my residence so occasional portability isn't an issue as much. Hey, in the end I just might the other one! :nixweiss

Yup, I'm eyeing on that Craftsman one too. I think it was $66.00 or something like that on the its website.

I bought that 4 gallon 5 hp model last week along witha turbo nozzle and a micro detailing kit....it works wonders! And the hose size (1 1/4") is MUCH easier to accesorize...*** is 1 7/8" (the Rigid)?!?!

BTW I paid $107 for everything I mentioned.

I also have the small rigid, mine didn't come with any attachments, other than the tool shown on everone else's pic. However, Rigid makes a small "detailing kit" at HD in the vac section...which comes with a 1 something inch diameter hose and a few other odds and ends. It also works well with the little mini attachments. I usually switch betweeen hoses when I vacumn out the carpet, as the bigger one has a little bit more suction. Overall I love the vac to death, and I'm very skeptical that anything else could do much better as far as detailing.

I cant find the adapter for the 1 7/8" to 1 1/4" mini detailing kit.

In other words, how does the 1 1/4" kit attach to the hose?

Also is it powerful enough for deep cleaning recessed areas and for pulling sand from the carpet?

I live in ME on the beach and I love the Craftsman. I know the Rigid looks better, but I'm tellin' ya, the Craftsman is more powerful and does a great job. Yes, it does pic up sand. Maybe not every grain of sand but alot of sand removal depends on technique. I vacuum, brush, and vacuum again if the sand is really bad. Took care of my sand problems

Odd, wheen I bought my detailing kit, everything just hooked right up....the detailing kit sold by rigid just plugs strieght into the vacum with no problem. It only comes with a few attachments, a crevece tool, dusting brush, ect, which is why i bought the little 1 1/4 detailing mini kit, they had a killion of them hanging on the wall, made by some company called "stinger". If I'm not mistaken they sell the exact same kit at Wal-Mart as the shop vac brand. Eitherway, i never had any problem with it, they just plugged righ into the small hoose thatcomes with the Rigid detailing kit.

Hah, I got the Rigid 5hp type from Home Depot tonight. I didnt test it out yet.

Oh I also bought the Goodyear fire hose noozle too. I think it better than those Ultimate Over Rated Hose Nozzle that they wanted to sell for $25.99 :nono

I went to buy the 4 hp 5 gal vac. But wound up buying the 6.5 16 gal vac. It is VERY quiet (I can talk to someone without yelling while standing next to the vac. It has a foam exhaust muffler that works very well.

I also bought the car detailing hose kit. It comes with a 12' hose and 3 attachments.
