Best Sheepskin Mitt Vendor?

I have sheepsking mitts from Viking, Costco, Autogeek, CMA, Autopia, Turtle Wax and Target.

ALL of them are IDENTICAL with the EXACT same cuff and fur. The Coscto's have the bug scrubber.

ALL are made in China yet all have different prices! CMA and Autogeek are the most expensive.

The best value comes at Costco.

My next sheepsking purchase will be from Griot's. I am willing to spend the $12 because their cuff looks different and it is made in Canada. So I believe it may be different. It'll add to my collection of 12 or so already!

Has Bill D explained his "fruit picking" methodology when it comes to selecting the prize mitt?!!

Thats what I did the other day while picking out my Eurow at Walmart lolol.... People walking down the aisles were like "Oooooookkkkkk" as I had mitts all over the place trying to find the best one :D

I go to Target and pick out the softest and most plush Baja Sol mitts. They work great for me and I've never had a problem with them.

Surely they can't have the EXACT same fur? Unless mitt manufacturers are cloning sheep! :p

You'd be amazed at the sheep cloning abilities these days ;)

You know what I mean - the mitts are the same just different brand names.

The Griots mitt here is what I may try next. Looks like a winner. I like the idea it is made in Canada.

Has anyone tried the SA Arnold sheepskin mitt from Premium Auto Care............. or any place else for that matter? I've heard some good things about them. I'm also in the market for the "best" sheepkin mitts. (My supply of quality 100% cotton mitts is running low)

You might be Autopian if....:D

It's routine for me whenever I visit Wal-Mart. Sometimes they may see me shake my head and stamp my foot in disappointment: mitts not soft enough that time ;) :D

Haha, another "mitt picker" here!:lol Felt fairly self-conscious last time when I was feeling every mitt for plushness. There's a big difference mitt to mitt and during one trip I couldn't find any that were acceptable. First thing that came to mind was that another Autopian must live near the same Walmart I do! All the Folex was also gone that day! Nowadays, I can't make a trip to Walmart or Target without checking the mitts! Don't need any more but you never know when you won't be able to find a good one...:D :D

I believe this is the case here at the Beach yesterday. Mongoose--did you visit Military Hwy and Lynnhaven Pkwy yesterday:D

Mitt "professionals," when you are picking amongst the Wal*Mart or Target mitts looking for the right one, are you pulling at the fibers to see if they come loose? I couldn't tell what your selection method was. This has become quite the revealing discussion.

I first feel the mitts to compare the degree of softness across one another. Next you could pull the fibers and try to narrow the selection down even further.

Well once I travelled to my local Target, Pep Boys, KMart and R&S Strauss and pulled one fiber from each store from their Viking cotton mitts, brought them home and did the burn test and they all failed. None of them had the cotton logo.

My brother mailed me home from California five 100% Viking cotton mitts that had the cotton logo (I had him search!) and they too failed the burn test. That's when Viking had their recall and I sent mine back and got an extra one for free when they shipped them all back!

I'm referring to sheepskin mitt fibers. I assume thinksnow is wondering about pulling the fibers in attempts to determine which mitt may have problems falling apart prematurely :nixweiss

thinksnow,

Also, when you are drying your mitts, if your dryer came with a shelf you can use that to "air" dry them without the tossing of the dryer. I have a "shelf" that came with the dryer that I just place in the dryer and it keeps the mitts from tossing around, I can prop them up with a bottle and the warm air helps dry them faster with less stress.
