Also one of my altime favorites. DONNIE DARKO.

I don't think I'd call Donnie Darko a "horror" movie, but that's just me. It was really good none the less.

I prefer the older horror movies...

-The Shining

-Freaks

-Poltergeist

-Fire In the Sky

-Halloween

-Blair Witch Project(newer)

Most of the newer horror movies are more 'suspense' IMO. I did really like Signs, I though it was well done.

I agree. The Thing just absolutely blew me away when I first saw it. Unbelievable that it was 1982. If they tried to remake it today with CGI it would never work!:)

Well, I hate to break it to you but some idiot somewhere is thinking of remaking this. I believe I just read that on Ain't It Cool News the other day. That, in my opinion, would be sacrilege. I was also reading that the movie was basically considered crap when it came out, but over time is now highly regarded (especially the creature effects). I think John Carpenter is SO underrated. I don't care how many times I see Escape From New York, I still love to watch it every single time.

Yea I gotta throw in a couple

Army of Darkness: Kind of a B horror movie but just plain awesome at the same time

+1 for Blair Witch: that movie scared the bejeebus out of me

Blair Witch 2 was actually quite good

The House on Haunted Hill, was quite freaky as well

The Shining

Of course, we have the remake of Halloween coming out this fall!! The version that Rob Zombie is making.... I love the original Halloween, so I'm not sure how I feel about a remake. Most remakes destroy the original idea and feel, IMO. That said, I will still see it!

^I hate some remakes, like you and Tasty say, they rarely do a good job :(

They don't make directors the likes of John Carpenter and Stanley Kubrick anymore.

I agree that few remakes live up to the original, but it's sort of ironic that one of Carpenter's best (IMO), "The Thing", was a remake of a 1951 horror flick: The Thing from Another World (1951)

Also, not quite horror, but Carpenter's "Big Trouble In Little China" is another favorite of mine.

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, looks you crooked in the eye and asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that:

"Have ya paid your dues, Jack?"

"Yessir, the check is in the mail."
