Best Products for Oxidation Removal

my paint is smooth to touch and parts of the paint are chipping off (ouch). i think it's clearcoat failer. would it be possible to professionally strip the clear and just put on another clear rather than repainting from scratch?

That looks more like clearcoat failure than just oxidation.
Unfortunately, I agree. :( Comes from not being protected well enough for too long (esp. in Arizona!), or possibly because the clearcoat was applied too thinly at the factory. Being a Dodge, I wouldn't be surprised if it were the latter (don't ask how I know  ).

disasnguy offers a good tip to check too. Failed clearcoat will be easy to flake or scrape off with your fingernail.

My old 86 Pontiac Parisienne looked exactly like that on the hood and trunk lid! It was definitely clearcoat failure. Nothing short of a repainting would have fixed it.

4dsc its funny you should mention that. The other day I saw a dodge truck with horrible spots on the hood. The truck had a sign on it that said "painted by dodge". that truck couldn't have been more than a couple of years old.

Yeah that is what is frustrating. Don't get me wrong, I don't think I baby this truck but I definitely have maintained a consistent wash and wax schedule. Maybe the products I used weren't right but I have never experienced a problem like this before.
