Best product to remove stickers/graphics from vehicle paint?

I have a customer who used to be sponsored by various companies so therefore the car is riddled with graphics and stickers. He would like to sell it (w/o stickers and such) so I must remove everything. What is the best/safest product for this? Of course I can't remove or damage any paint. All I can think of is goo-gone but I have never personally used it and Im not sure how abrassive it is. Thanks for your help everyone.

I would heat the decals with a heat gun/hairdryer and peel away.

As for the tough ones use a plastic razor from Rightlook

Hair dryer to soften adhesive to remove graphic.

This may save you some work as you say there are a lot to remove-

Vinyl Striping and Graphics:

Remove with an eraser wheel (Wurth Art # 05891) attached to an electric drill, run at 3,500RPM max (www.wurthusa.com)

Hair dryer/heat gun (be careful not to overheat the paint) followed by 3M adhesive remover will work for vinyl/paint film graphics very effectively. Use a plastic razor or knife to scrape off residue where necessary.

thanks for all your replies, I believe I will try the plastic blade and 3M adhesive remover as I have always been a big fan of 3M. I will let you guys know how it works out

I love the labelling on the tin - "3M Bug, Tar, and Adhesive remover, for removing bugs, tar and adhesive"...

...really?! I honestly would never have guessed. I'm so glad they pointed that out otherwise I would have wondered why it wasn't very good as a LSP! :D

I highly highly recommend using a hair dryer. It will most definitely remove the majority of the vinly graphics without hassle. In essence, the heat will basically soften up the adhesive making it easier to peel and not be so brittle when peeling. Good luck on your endeavor! :up

:chuckle: . . . . .

I have used a hair dryer to soften the glue on stickers an emblems. On emblems I used a piece of fishing line after heating it with a hair dryer and goo gone or wd40 to clean the area.
