Best product to remove gasoline smell from engine bay?

I just had my fuel injectors flow tested and purchased new top hat adapters for them. They didn`t tell me they were shorter than the old ones. :angry: About 2 miles from my home, I had a major fuel leak that sprayed gasoline everywhere. I had AAA tow the car back to my garage and the smell was just unbearable. I used Meguiar`s Super Degreaser and sprayed everything down, other than the distributor and wires. This made a huge difference. Unfortunately, I found out the next day that I did some serious damage to the finish on some expensive anodized parts. Today I put some new spacers in the fuel rail and fixed the leak, but in the process, I spilled some more fuel. For obvious reasons, I`m not going to use MSD again. Is there a mild deodorizing cleaner that is safe to use and won`t leave a residue? The garage is under the house and I can still smell it.

The only way to remove the odor completely is to remove the source of the odor completely..
If you dont want to use Meguiars SuperDegreaser, how about some Meguiars APC ??
If it was me I would spray it with something let it dwell, and hit it with the pressure washer to rinse and remove the residue...
Then let it dry with the hood open for a while in the sun...
Have to get it all off to get rid of the smell...

Simple Green Crystal or Simple Green HD Pro from Home Depot. The Crystal is clear and ordorless, and the HD Pro is non causative so it won`t mess up any aluminum parts and all.

That`s a great idea, but wouldn`t that leave black residue? A lighter might get hot after a while, but what about one of those mini butane torches? It might be easier to "aim".

Hi Dan, I did use the MSD. It damaged all the anodized parts and fittings under the hood. I`ll call Meguiar`s and see if APC is safe on those surfaces, thank you!

Simple Green is also bad for aluminum. It also leaves a white residue.

Those two Simple Greens rinse away very easily, cause I cant think of a degreaser that you can just spray on and wipe, without even a little bit of rinsing.

Maybe D114? Itll leave residue if you dont buff or wipe it off thoigh.
