Best product line recommendation

Welcome Chas1025. A lot of good advise has been given. I will echo the 'dont put all your eggs in one basket' point raised by many.

If I had to however I would look at 1Z and Finish Kare as well. I have not been dissapointed with any of their products. I am not sure about the OTC availability though over in the US.

As you experiment, you will find products from different lines that meet your needs best. For example, I exclusively use Menzerna for paint correction. I find their polishes have a significantly longer working time and WAYYY less dusting than Meguiars. I can't say much outside those two correction products. I stopped shopping when I found Menzerna, it's that good. I like Zaino Z2Pro for my LSP because I am happy with the shine, slickness, durability, price and availability. I went out on a spending spree about 6 years ago and tried P21S, Menzerna FMJ and Klasse and decided that I still liked Zaino the best. I like Griots garage car wash soap because it is super foamy, very slippery and doesn't get fussy if it dries on the paint. Megs gold class is a suitable alternative if you want OTC stuff. I find Mothers Clay to be sticky and I get marring even with the recommended lubricant.

It really is tough to find one manufacturer that makes every product to your standards. You have to experiment. Also, you should invest in a FLEX 3401.

Meguiar's probably has the best line for ALLLLLLLLL encompassing detail supply based on product numbers alone.

Agreed! Though I think Optimum is closing in fast. ;)

I just wanted to chime in here again, since I just came in from the garage with a clipboard :D

Narrowing products down to one line makes sense to a pro detailer who wants to streamline his setup but could mean missing out on a many great products for the enthusiast since often a single company produces only ( what personal experience and preference dictates to be)one leading product in its category to the user. The list I made below shows me that if I were forced to be exclusive to one brand, I’d go with Meguiar’s or Griot’s, but then I would be forfeiting several of my favorites.

This evening I took the time to go through my staple products. I made a list of the brands of which I use at least two. This really showed me how diverse my product assortment is because after I made this list, I had plenty of products left over that I use only one of from one brand or only one product that only one brand makes. So, FWIW, here’s the list:

Meguiars: M105/M205, D120 glass cleaner, cutting pads, polishing pads, sanding block

Griot’s: Car Wash, Speed Shine, Rubber Cleaner,Polypropylene glass wipes, Polisher

Collinite: 845 Insulator Wax, 850 Metal Wax

Menzerna: PO106, PO85RD

Leather Master: Leather Protection Cream, Leather Cleaner

Leatherique: PC, RO

P21s: Carnauba wax, TAW

Valugard: New Car Prep, Fast Finish, ABC decon wash system

4 Star: Ultimate Wheel Cleaner Gel, UPP

Pinnacle: Souveran, Crystal Mist

3M: Painter’s tape, General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner

Just to add to the thread, I'd agree with what others have said - there's no reason to limit yourself to a single product line, as there are a range of good products across a spectrum of manufacturers.

Ha! I'm not a spam bot!

Sorry, there was a spam post between yours and mine previously - seems like the mods already deleted it. I've edited my post accordingly :smile1:

I think I have more Finish Kare products on my shelf than anything else

108

118

228

425

1000p

2685

2180

However, I couldn't rely on them alone. 1z, Optimum, Meguiars, and a few others fill the holes.
