Best Posts of 2010

I know this topic was brought up in the detailing forum a little while ago, but I would like to know what the pros use to make the interior smell nice. I assume most of you guys use something, and how about something that lasts more than a day. Does such a product exist? I have used many consumer products and even One Grand's, but none last more than a day or two. Thanks for all replies.
 
Ya I always wanted that new car smell too, but do not know of anything that makes it smell like a new car does.



If anyone knows let me know too.

Wax-Master, the "new car" smell can never be replicated due to the fact that it is caused by the release of gases from the interior materials.
 
What smells do you find customers like? Those 3M (I think they are 3M) car smells that come in the black containers with colored lids, and have several different flavors, has anyone tried those?

Josiah I saw those and smelled everyone I saw and I did not really like the offerings they had. Fruit flavors and such.



Plus isn't that stuff like a leather conditioner or vinyl maybe?
 
Guess, I really don't like the fruit smells either. Leather smells really nice, even if you don't have leather... But the best leather smells come in expensive products. Anyone find an affordable good smell?



Do you find that customers are willing to pay extra for "smell"?
 
In my personal vehicles, I like the Griots Fine Leather scent. I spray a few squirts of it near the floor vents, so that when the A/C or Heat is running, it circulates the smell throughout the car.



I've found that it lasts fairly long - between 10 - 14 days, and it compliments the smell of other leather products.
 
I want that new car smell it is soo cool.



They have these things that go on your vents in your car that when you turn them on it circulates through the car but it might look kinda tacky. Any thoughts?

Get the clips the same color as your vents - if they are small enough it won't look tacky. If they are pastel pink and half the size of your vents, yeah... But from what I've seen of them they are pretty small.
 
You guy's think that the leather fragrance is the nicest smelling? Is it in like a spray bottle or clip ?

Try using the search feature, or going to the actual website when looking for an answer. Like I said, not trying to be rude, but keeping the "posting pace" you've got, you'll have 10K posts by the end of the week...



All of us here try to bounce ideas off one another, but we also don't mind doing a little exploratory work on our own.

One of the neat things that I like is this little vanilla smelling propeller that clips to your vent. The plastic is scented so the smell lasts longer. Its cool. You can get em in AutoZone or PepBoys or wherever.



Fabreeze is a good way to kill the bad smells but it leaves a soapy smell behind. I like to use Fabreeze just so I have a relatively clean pallete to work with and then use Ozium New Car Smell over it. It works for me. Not for everybody but I like it.



They need to make a scent in a can that smells like carpet glue and new plastic so we can get a true new car smell. The smell market is the market to be in. You could make a billion dollars if you could invent a new smell that people actually like.

I thought Fabreeze evaporates and leaves a film on your windows?


Like geekysteve said try using a search function. From reading some of your other posts you seem to be familiar with forums and even mentioned posting on some other detailing ones. On this board post counts really does not matter. It is the quality of your posts. Posting 3 replies in a row each with one sentence in it doesn't really do much. You can edit your posts if you need to add something.

Ya those clip things are cool but it they might be tacky if your going to show your car off but I like those a lot.

I thought this might be a interesting topic, to see what everyone thought. What do you thing are the best 3 posts of 2010.

Here are mine:

Marc and Jacob continue to redefine the term "Detailing". Their attention to detail constantly inspires me, and this one might be the best detail of the year.

This is another one that blew me away. The work that Eric produces wow's me every time, and this was his best (IMHO).

There were so many other great ones, but these three really stood out for me.

I agree with your collection and would only add some of the posts from David @ Street Dreams besides WOWing me with his work, his willingness to share his expertise by answering specifics on this forum is unmatched anywhere.
