i have a 04 mustang gt that is black and i want to keep it as dep and wet looking as possible,it is my daily driver and im in pennsylvannia so it doesnt exactly see 80 sunny weather and dry clean roads all the time(sorry i just hate it here), any way i wash it like 2 times a week but after a bit i get swiirls and marring, question is what soap u suggest im using nxt right now with chenille mit and also what polishes and wax to keep it looking wet and deep? please spell product outs as im not used to all the abr. yet

thnks!!

Personally, I like Blackfire and Foustar Polymer products, i would have to give a slight edge to Blackfire....Fourstar is a little easier to use, but looks for me at least, go to Blackfire.....Depending on prep work needed, all you may need are their paint cleaners, you really didnt elaborate on current surface condition.

IMO the most important thing is to *not* mar it when washing. The vehicles I drive in Ohio winters don't get all marred up, so it *is* possible to wash without marring. You might check out My Wash Technique .

Maybe look into Stage I Pre-Wash .

The whole trick is to get the (abrasive) dirt off the car without causing scratches. Imagine that the car's paint is as delicate as the surface of your eyeball.

I'm not sure which polishes you should use as I'm not familiar with Ford clear (don't know how hard it is). A good starting point would be 3M PI-III MG (pn 05937). It's not as easy to find as the stuff at the autoparts store, but IMO it's worth looking for. I'd just order from an online vendor.

I agree with Patrick about the Black Fire ("BF") and 4-Star Ultimate Paint Protection ("4* UPP") sealants. Well, I sorta agree; I prefer UPP over BF ;) Slick Last Step Products ("LSP"s) like these make it a lot easier to get the dirt off without marring the finish.

Oh, and use good shampoo. High lubricity is very important.

Waxes/Sealants: Poorboy's EX is very nice on black. Blackfire is nice, too, though it can sometimes streak. Meguiar's #16 (don't let it dry - apply to a section and remove) and NXT are also good (NXT can be a little hard to apply, though it removes easily without streaking). Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection (UPP) is a pleasure to apply and remove, but I don't think it looks quite as good on black as the others. Washes/Shampoos: Four Star's Ultimate Auto Wash Shampoo is very slick and smells great. Pinnacle's Wash is also crazy slick...Einszett's washes, too. As far as polishes go, I like Menzerna Final Polish II for light work...I haven't tried their Intensive Polish or PowerGloss Compound, yet, but hear they're very good. Hope this helps.

My advice:

- Get a sheepskin wash mitt for the body of the car and relegate your chenile one to wheels and rocker panels.

- Meguiars #7 Show Car Glaze will fill in the scratches you have with minimal effort.

- Meguiars #26 High Tech Yellow Wax gives excellent results on black.

some like:

Meg's #80, NXT or

PB's SSR's, EX or

3M's FI 111 RC (fine cut)or MG, 3M SMR ( 4 dark cars)

any of the above combo's topped w/ a carnauba topper wud be successful on black...oops just read your original post : spelled out:

Meguirs speed glaze (#80), Meg's NXT wax

Poor Boys line of Swirl removers, and Poor boys EX sealant wax

3M fine cut rubbing compound or machine glaze, 3m Swirl mark remover for dark colored cars. thats a lot more typing!!

Meguiars #80 as your go to polish since it finishes off with a real wet look, Vanilla Moose or AIO as your glaze and EX w/carnauba or #16 in the winter and Pinnacle Souveran in the summer.

AIO as a glaze? I thought it SG was the glaze.

For deepest and most durable shine I use this combo, AIO (klasse cleaner) then Zaino2, you can even go deeper if you want with p21s wax as topper (with the recently upgraded Zaino you might not decide on topper, many people says it wetter looking then their old stuff). To avoid swirls I agree that a good wash like Zaino7 and a sheepskin or wool mitt is very important. Welcome to Autpoia.

AIO isn't a glaze (technically) but it's closer to acting like a glaze than SG, which is purely a sealant.
